Every Breath You Take novel Chapter 85

Quarmy finally came out after 15 days of imprisonment. When he walked out of the detention house, he let out a long breath. In addition to Noah, Madrigal and Jenny were waiting for him outside.

Seeing Quarmy coming out, Jenny came up to him. Noah lit up the brazier on the ground to let Quarmy walk over it. Madrigal took a bottle of water, asking Quarmy to wash his hands. They did it for Quarmy to get rid of the unluckiness.

Quarmy did not say much and followed their instructions. He took off his coat and threw it into the car. After getting into the car, Jenny kept nagging that he should go home to take a bath, eat pork trotters, and stay at home for six days.

Quarmy did not say a word. That woman's figure had always been in his mind. What had she been doing in the past half month when he was in the detention house?

Although the way to delay the engagement was not good, it was the best way for him. In fact, this method was also temporarily thought of by him. At that time, he was surrounded by so many policemen. He suddenly thought of the engagement ceremony with Madrigal soon, and then an idea came to his mind, so he ordered Noah to do so.

He hoped that woman to understand him and break up with Roland, but was it possible?

Quarmy did not stay at home for six days as Jenny had said. After taking a shower at home, he hurriedly excused himself and left home.

After he left, Madrigal, who had a smile on her face, felt really upset.

Roland's sports car was as outstanding as himself. He drove all the way to the downstairs of Monica's house. Monica had been waiting here for a long time and smiled sweetly at Roland.

Roland opened the door and said, "Dear, please!"

Monica got in the car. "What's the matter?"

"Secret!" He laughed.

"Could it be another birthday like that day?"

"You idiot, will you celebrate your birthday twice a year?" Roland stared at her.

"Well, if you have a lunar birthday and it's a leap month..."

"It's not a leap month!" Roland interrupted her.

"What the heck is going on?"

"You'll know later!"

Quarmy's car parked at the corner of the downstairs. When he saw the two leaving happily, he drove after them.

Roland's car passed through the downtown area and stopped in front of a jewelry store. In Monica's surprise, he took her hand and entered the jewelry store. "I haven't slept well these days. I decided to buy a ring to hold you first, so that I won't be afraid of you running away!"

While he was talking, a man came over to let Monica pick a ring. Monica was dazzled by the huge shining diamonds. In the past, there used to be a man who often bought diamonds for her and said that he loved her. But in the end, he took back his love and those diamonds. Her heart ached a little when she thought of the past.

"What do you think? Any good?" Roland was waiting for her answer.

"In fact, holding me doesn't need such a valuable thing." Monica licked her lips.

"I know. I just want to give it to you." Roland replied.

"But..."

"Don't hesitate. I know what you're worried about. Don't worry, that kind of thing won't happen again." He took Monica's hand. "It's not a sudden whim. I thought it over after careful consideration. Moni, give me a chance to hold you forever!"

Monica looked at his sincere face. She knew that he was telling the truth. He was generous to those women in the past, so naturally he would do what Quarmy had done. She did not refuse. Roland took her hand and put a huge diamond ring on her hand. "It's beautiful!"

"It's too expensive!" She didn't know what to say.

"It's nothing compared to the one I want to give you the most." He held her hand. "Remember, from now on, you're my only woman!"

Quarmy sat in the car and looked at the two people who came out of the jewelry shop. A huge diamond ring on the woman's left hand was shining with dazzling light. Even though the distance was so long, he still felt a piercing pain in his eyes. His hopeful heart sank into the abyss again. He should have thought of it. The piano music was still ringing in his ears. She hated him so much. How could it be changed because of him entering the detention house?

He sat in the car in a daze and watched Roland's car disappear from his sight. He lay on the steering wheel feebly, as if he had lost all of his energy.

Hearing the doorbell ringing, Mary opened the door and smiled surprisingly after seeing Quarmy. "You're out?"

Quarmy sat down speechlessly and stared at Mary's beautiful face. Mary was a little embarrassed by his gaze. She had known Quarmy for three years. He saved her that night three years ago.

She remembered the situation at that time. At that time, she was a graduate student in Jiang University. Her adoptive parents were all ill. The school and the hospital were asking her for money. She had to work several jobs at the same time. One of the jobs was to be a waiter in a high-end restaurant in Jiang City. When she served the dishes that day, she accidentally spilled the soup on a female guest and was given two slaps by her. She also asked her to pay tens of thousands of yuan for her clothes.

She pleaded in a pitiful low voice and almost knelt down. Quarmy came out to help her out. Later, he told her not to go to the restaurant again and paid her tuition fee.

He even let her live in his house. She thought that he had fallen in love with her. She had always been arrogant and disdained to take advantage of others or become someone else's lover. However, when Quarmy appeared in her life, her rules were broken.

This man was so excellent that he was worthy of her love. She didn't care even if she would be his lover.

However, things did not develop as she expected. In the past three years, he came to her house every week, but he never spent the night here. Every time he came, he would lie on the sofa, watching her busy and smoking quietly.

Occasionally, she would turn around and see his gaze at her. His gaze was so affectionate that her heart was pounding. "He must like me, right?" She thought.

But why didn't he do anything else to her? Why did he always leave quietly?

Looking at his handsome face, Mary felt a little distressed. "Did you suffer a lot in there?"

Quarmy shook his head. Mary asked, "What do you want to eat?"

He looked away from her. "Give me a glass of wine."

"You can't drink." Mary didn't move. "Let me talk to you. Can you tell me what you're worried about?"

He didn't say anything, but his eyes were unquestionable. Mary had to turn around and get a bottle of low-proof wine. She opened the bottle and was about to pour the wine into the glass, but he reached out and snatched it from her hand.

He raised his head to drink. He was handsome, and the way he drank was so handsome. Looking at him drinking, Mary couldn't help swallowing.

Quarmy was drinking without saying a word. Mary just stood aside and looked at him. She felt anxious. He had a bad stomach and he couldn't drink.

Finally, he put down the bottle and looked at Mary who was standing there in a daze. He smiled and said, "Why are you standing there? Sit down!" That smile made her feel warm. She sat beside him obediently.

Quarmy looked at her beautiful face and smiling eyes. He knew very well he helped her not only because she was pitiful, but also because she had eyes similar to that woman's.

For the past three years, every time he wanted to see that the woman, he would come here. Watching Mary busy in the kitchen, he would think of the short happy days in the past, and then all his unhappiness would disappear.

"She no longer loves you. She has already accepted another man's ring. Since that is the case, why don't you move on? Let it go, forget everything about her, and start a new life!"

Quarmy sighed in his heart and waved to Mary who was nervous. "Get closer to me. Are you afraid that I will eat you?"

Mary felt her heart beat faster. She got up and sat down beside him. The distance between them was so close that she could smell the wine coming out of his mouth. He stared at her for a long time, and suddenly reached out to hold her in his arms.

Mary's heart throbbed and her mind went blank. She saw the handsome face she had been thinking about day and night get closer to her little by little.

She had never kissed others before, but she knew what would happen next. She closed her eyes shyly, and the hot breath on her face made her itchy. She was looking forward what would happen next. Quarmy's lips were slowly approaching her, but he stopped only a few centimeters away from her. He stared blankly at the young and beautiful face in front of him.

"I can't! I can't do it!"

After saying this inexplicable sentence, he let go of Mary and stood up.

Mary opened her eyes and saw him disappear quickly. If it weren't for the bottle in front of her, she really would think what had happened just now was a dream.

Quarmy went out of the house and strode to the car downstairs. He rested his head on the steering wheel and scratched his hair. Why couldn't he do that?

Why didn't he feel for any other women except for her? He had wanted to forget her and restart his life, but he failed again. He couldn't even accept Mary, who looked a little like her.

The car passed through the street with shining neon lights. The pedestrians were smiling, but Quarmy's heart was depressed.

Monica came out of the bathroom and heard her phone singing happily. She picked up the phone. The familiar number made her stunned. Why did he call her so late? After hesitating for a while, she tried her best to answer the phone calmly. "Hello!"

Even Quarmy's breathing was clear. After a while, he said, "Monica, I heard that you were going to marry Roland?"

"So what?" Monica asked simply.

Quarmy listened to her indifferent voice and the pain in his heart spread out. He tried to keep himself calm to say what he wanted to say. "As your ex- husband, I just want to remind you that it's impossible for you and Roland to be together. Don't be fooled by the illusion."

"Mr. Huo, can you make it clear? What is an illusion?"

"The Wang family won't allow you and Roland to be together."

"You've already warned me about this."

"Then do you know that Roland has a fiancee?" Quarmy sneered. "You also know her fiancee. She's Leon's cousin, Mandy."

His voice was not loud, but it sounded like thunder in Monica's ears. She took the phone and forgot to speak.

"Are you listening?" After a long time, Quarmy asked.

Monica recovered from the shock just now. "Quarmy!" She was angry and she couldn't hide the shock and trembling in her voice. "Why did you tell me this? Why?"

"I just don't want to see you be kept in the dark. I don't want you to be fooled." Hearing her trembling voice, his heart ached.

"Impossible! Roland won't lie to me! He has no reason to lie to me!" Monica shouted at the phone. "It must be you who deliberately made it up to cheat me. You don't want me to be happy. You are really evil!"

"Monica, why wouldn't Roland lie to you? Ask yourself, do you know him? Do you know his family?" Quarmy retorted, "He sweet-talked you into wearing his ring. Monica, you are the most stupid woman in the world!"

"I know!" Monica felt there were tears in her eyes. She shouted at the phone, "If I were not stupid, I would not have been deceived by you. Quarmy, don't try to destroy my happiness. Let me tell you, although I don't know Roland and his family, he's sincere. I trust him!"

"Sincere? If he is sincere, will he still be with you after knowing it's impossible for him to marry you? Are you out of your mind?" Quarmy sneered. He could hear her crying voice. She didn't shed a tear when she left him, but she cried for Roland. How much love she had for Roland? The pain in his heart spread, and his words were even more ruthless. "Aren't you the one who hates the mistress the most? I just want to remind you not to be a mistress!"

"Bastard!" Monica cursed angrily. "You are a bastard. You deliberately provoked me. What on earth do you want?"

"I say, if you don't believe me, you can ask him. Do you think it's necessary for me to lie to you? Am I that bored?" Monica's heart sank to the bottom as Quarmy hung up the phone.

Quarmy was not such a bored person. He would not stimulate her with a lie, so it must be true!

It was totally possible that Mandy was Roland's fiancee because the Gu family and the Wang family were both rich and powerful. She sat weakly on the ground with tears. "Roland, you said you wouldn't lie to me. I have decided to let go of the past and start over with you. I have decided to give you my love. How could you give me such a big blow at this time!"

Monica couldn't sleep through the night. At 8 o'clock in the morning, Roland appeared downstairs on time. She looked at him who stood beside the car and stared at her with a smile, and her heart was in a turmoil.

He was noble, handsome and rich, but what about herself?

She felt extremely bitter in her heart and got on the car silently. Roland started the car and asked, "What's wrong? Are you unhappy today?"

"I want to ask you one thing. You have to answer me honestly."

"What do you want to ask?" There was a smile on his face.

"Do you have a fiancee?"

"Who told you that?" Roland asked.

"It's not important. Just answer me."
