Ramiro inexplicably appeared and said some inexplicable things. I didn't even know if it was true or not, but I chose to believe in him.
Ramiro said, "When you were in Glestin, you were literally penniless. I was the one who lent you the money to rent your house and cover for your life."
He took the dog and asked me, "Do you know what the most touching thing in the world is?"
"What?" I asked curiously.
"Help a lame dog over a stile!"
Ramiro couldn't stop his little reminiscence. He said excitedly, "I gave all my money to you because you really were way too pitiful. But do you know what happened to me later? I had to go to a f*cking food bank for a whole f*cking month!"
Puzzled, I asked, "Isn't your old man quite loaded?"
Not to mention his dog was worth 200 grand.
Ramiro took his dog and walked out of the police station. After a few steps, he paused and looked back at me. I followed him and heard him say, "I don't have any money on me.
Treat me to lunch."
I nodded and he continued, "My mother is a mistress, and my father is a high official in Glestin. Because he has a legitimate son, so he never recognizes my existence! And because of his cold-heartedness, I and my mother had a hard time when I was a boy. Five years ago, I was still a poor b*stard who had anything. Although I was poor, I helped you anyway."
Ramiro's tone was extremely calm, as if what he was talking about wasn't himself, but someone else.
"But now, he..."
I couldn't ask any further.
"You want to ask why he accepted me right now?" Ramiro said in an indifferent tone. "His own son got bored with his wealthy and extravagant life so he decided he wanted to try sky diving, mountain diving, and s*it like that."
He died? How?
As if he could read my mind, Ramiro laughed and said, "He'd go climb cliffs bare-handed or ride his stupid bike on a steep mountain."
He laughed disdainfully and said, "Four years ago, he died while riding a bicycle on a cliff by the coast and falling into the sea. His corpse still hasn't been found." Ramiro then said in a mocking tone, "As his son, one of us lives a life that knew no limits, while the other lives in the shadow of his half-brother."
Ramiro was caught up in his own sorrow, but at the same time, he was full of disdain. He said, "So what if I'm back to the Cain family? I won't do even one thing they ask me to do and I won't take a dime from them. When he's going six feet under, I'll give all his money to his enemy!"
Ramiro couldn't stop talking. But I somehow felt sorry for him, but at the same time, I wondered why he would be back at the Cain family.
It was also a long time later that I knew that only after he returned to the Cain family did he have what it took to look for me, even if it was useless.
When we were eating, his dog was locked up in the car. In order to prevent it from suffocating, he specially lowered the window a bit.
Before the dishes were served, Ramiro asked me, "How many months you been pregnant? Can I be the godfather?"
Benjamin would split me into halves if I promised him that. I laughed and said, "I don't think so."
Ramiro's face fell, but fortunately, he didn't dwell on this problem. In a bored voice, he said, "I haven't seen you for five years, and you've changed a lot. At the very least, you aren't as short on money as you were in the past!"
I forced a smile. "I'm now able to keep myself alive."
"Yeah, you might be, but not me. My new company has just closed down, and I got no money. I've been staying at my friend's house these days."
What was his point?
I asked, "Do you want to borrow money?"
Ramiro shook his head. "Since the company closed down, the old man will definitely force me to work for the government. I haven't even gone to college yet. If I take over his business in the government, people are gonna talk behind my back."
So what was his point?
I raised my eyes to look at him. Ramiro smiled and said, "I've just thought about it. I plan not to return to Glestin in the near future. You're familiar with City B. Can you find me a small apartment?"
I myself couldn't even find a place to live. The apartment I lived in was given to me by Joel.
I wanted to say that I wasn't familiar with City B either, but when I saw his eager eyes and thought about what he said about the lame dog and the stile, I couldn't bear to reject him.
"Well," I replied and said, "what are you willing to pay?"
"I'm not that picky so just find me a place with a balcony and a bedroom. Oh right, I don't cook so the place would be better if it doesn't have a kitchen."
A balcony and no kitchen.
And he said he wasn't picky?
When the dishes were on the table, Ramiro looked at his dog and said lightly, "I'll ask someone to send her back to Glestin later."
"Hm? Why?" I asked in confusion.
"I can't afford to raise her now, so I'll her back to my mother so that she won't have to suffer with me."
I wanted to lend him some money, but most of my money was given to Joel, while the rest was given to Kayla.
I was also living off my monthly salary at the moment.
