Teresa's face sank, and she looked at me viciously. She then stood up and splashed a glass of red wine over. Diego blocked it for me and warned her in a faint voice, "Teresa, this is an assault. Do you want me to call the police?"
"Do you think the entire world revolves around you?"
I handed a few tissues to Diego, and he took them to wipe the red wine on his suit. Even being humiliated by Teresa so much, Diego still showed no signs of indignation on his face.
Teresa asked in a low voice, "What do you mean?"
"You think you are the center of the world, so you want everything to be about you. That's the same reason you want Zack to like you. That's also why you asked for the love of Benjamin, asked Janse to stay with you, and also you cuckold husband."
"Enough, Emma!"
Janse, who had been silent all this while, finally spoke.
I smiled and asked softly, "Enough? Have you ever thought about enough when you bullied me?"
Teresa was stunned. I smiled and said, "Janse, the woman you love has loved nobody but Zack ever. For this, she used Benjamin and you to hurt me."
Janse's face was very gloomy. He tapped his hand on the table and said coldly, "So what? As long as she likes me, I will do it for her, whatever it is she wants me to do, going against you or even Benjamin."
He paused and said, "Yes, you've got your own company and the Jenkins family behind you, but you are still no match for the Dunns and the Heaneys."
I was no match?
I smiled and said, "So what if I'm no match? It's a strange thing that you don't talk about the Solanges, which is your own family, anymore. What? Lost control of that?"
Sean had been trying to take the Solange family back in his hand, which had consumed all Janse's energy. He now couldn't control the Solange family so he decided he'd just help its opponent to make sure Sean didn't get all of it.
Sean had said that Janse would rather harm the Solange family than return the Solange family to him. The Solange family was in a state of chaos recently.
Janse's face instantly turned lived. He said angrily, "Emma, you'd better know your limits! Don't think you can do anything you want just because you've got a few trashy companies and some money now. You are still in the palm of my hand. If I want, I can make everything you think you have disappear in the blink of an eye."
"Oh?" I raised my eyebrows and asked, "Is that so?"
At that time, Janse's words made me feel ridiculous, and I felt that he was too naive to understand the situation. But I didn't expect that one day his words became true, and I really lost everything I had.
"I'll just wait and see," I said with a disdainful smile.
I got up, and Teresa asked with a cold face, "Where is Benjamin? He is very important now. His grandfather is caught up in too much now and he needs Ben back there to take control of the whole situation!"
I clenched the glass of red wine in my hand and looked at her coldly. Teresa added, "I'm pretty sure you want nothing to happen to the Dunn family. After all, the Dunn family will always be your own son, Ellis's property!"
"You'd better start thinking about how to get yourself out of the trouble rather than poking your nose around in others' business." I said.
Teresa said in a cold tone, "You are really too f*cking narrow-minded, Emma. You think you and your little grudges are all it's gonna take for you to stand up against the whole City B. I'll tell you what, the Heaney family is gonna give everything it has to take down your miserable company. And by that time, I'll make sure you fall into an abyss that you are never gonna crawl out of for the rest of your life!"
I splashed a glass of red wine onto Teresa's face. She froze for a moment before reaching out her hand to hold back Janse, who was standing up. She shook her head and said, "There's no need to do anything to her now. When has she ever outrun me? It's not gonna be long before she comes begging at my feet with nothing left."
"Hm? Really? Let's give it a try!" I said.
The red wine on Teresa's face trickled down her cheeks. She took a piece of tissue and wiped the red wine on her face and said calmly, "You will lose, Emma Shears."
"Ms. Shears," Diego said calmly. "Mr. Shears said that you don't have to bear with it when something happens. He will take the responsibility for you, even if it's against a big family!"
Because of Diego's words, Teresa's face was extremely livoid. She gritted her teeth and said, "Let's see if Joel is willing to offend all the big families for you and see if he is willing to give up the interests of his family to help you."
He would, because he was my brother.
I smiled faintly and ignored her. Then I chose a seat randomly for lunch with Diego. Teresa left after sitting for less than two minutes.
After they left, I said to Diego, "They used to do whatever they wanted to me, as if I were something that could be easily bullied. They still think they can make me bend my knees to them."
"It was in the past." Diego said in a respectful tone, "Now you've got your own company and the Shears and Jenkins behind you. Also, you have a very close relationship with the Channings and the Weiers. There is no one in City B that could be a match for you. All you have to do now is to remain calm and plan your revenge."
Diego paused for a while and said, "I know it's just a matter of time before you make them pay."
Yes, it was just a matter of time, not a matter of whether I could anymore.
After returning to the company, I received a phone call from Benjamin. He said softly, "Em, how about going home together after work?"
"You are not busy today?" I asked with a smile.
Benjamin said lazily, "I want to go home to be with you."
