Hearing this, Ellis immediately got up to hold him. Joel was stunned and then bent down to hold Ellis in his arms. He walked to me and said with a smile, "That was quite a welcome."
"This is your nephew," I reminded him.
Joel smiled and asked, "And you thought I didn't know?"
'"Course not." I shook my head and asked, "Where's Emy?"
"It's cold outside, so I didn't bring her here."
With one hand, Joel held Ellis, and then dragged the suitcase from my hand. He asked, "When are you going back to City B?"
I said, "Is that really what you wanna say to your sister after she just got here?"
I looked at him, pretending to be sad. Then he smiled and said, "My little sister is getting pretty grumpy."
"I may not return to City B for the time being." Looking at the puzzled look in Joel's eyes, I explained, "Both the Shears and Jenkins Groups are in good hands, and they are recently investigating the case back in Glestin, so even if I'm there, I'd have nothing to do. I might as well stay with the two children here."
"The old case in Glestin?" Joel asked in confusion.
"It's no big deal. Just some relic of the past."
"Oh, I guess that you don't know much about the operation of the Shears family, so you still don't know what kind of gift Grandpa and I gave you."
I knew that Joel and Grandpa had set up a game for me, which involved the Dunns, the Solanges, and the Heaneys, as well as a lot more other families.
But I still didn't know any detail about it.
It actually didn't matter because I had all the time in the world to get to know about my own family. Plus, I wanted the Heaney family to draw a few last breaths peacefully.
I smiled curiously and asked, "What gift?"
"It's no use explaining. You'll know when you get back there."
Joel shut me up with a few words.
Returning to the villa, Emy felt quite curious about Ellis. Her beautiful eyes had been staring at Ellis. I put her in Ellis's arms and introduced, "This is your Brother Ellis."
"Brother Anthony." Emy said.
I corrected her, "No, this is Brother Ellis."
"Brother... Brother Eli."
I smiled and said, "That was close. Don't worry, you'll get there."
Ellis was very happy to hold Emy. He held her in his arms and continued to tell her, "I've finally got to see you, Emy."
Ellis liked Emy very much. I saw that they were having a good time and didn't bother them anymore. Then I went to the kitchen to cook.
When Joel came to the kitchen to help, he said "Go to rest. You must be very tired after a day's flight."
"It's alright. I'll make some snacks for the child children," I said. Then, as if remembering something, I asked curiously, "Where's Neil? Why didn't I see him?"
"Aunty took him to buy baby supplies." Joel washed the vegetables for me and explained, "He arrived here yesterday but I didn't bring anything like diapers with me so aunty had to buy some more for him."
"They are already over a year old now."
Joel catered to my words and said, "Yeah, it's been two years already."
The two years that Joel said should be the time when September left him. September was now someone else's wife.
"What are you going to do in the future?" I asked tentatively.
"What do you mean?" It seemed that he had come to his senses. Then he shook his head and said, "I just wanna bring Neil up and that's all."
Joel was going to stay single.
Life in Ireland was quite comfortable. After about four months living there, Ellis hid away and cried silently in a corner.
I found him and asked him softly, "Did anyone bully you? Tell me what happened."
"I miss Benjamin." Ellis looked very aggrieved. He wiped his tears and said, "I didn't want to cry, but I couldn't control myself... I miss Benjamin, but you don't obviously. Every time I mentioned him to you, you would only blow me off."
Children were very sensitive, and seven-year-old children knew a lot. I took him into my arms and wiped his tears with my hand, saying, "You can tell me about Benjamin, I will find a way to let you see him or let him call you. But a man can't cry, okay? You can cry this time but I don't wanna see you hide in a corner and cry one more time, okay?"
"Well, will you let me see Benjamin?"
"I won't cry anymore." Ellis was sobbing, and then he whispered, "I want Benjamin to live with us."
I shook my head and explained, "Benjamin has his own things to do. He doesn't have time to live with us now, do you understand?"
