Agnes had just settled herself at the diner's booth when Jared came out of the kitchen, a culinary maestro in his own right. He had prepared a cozy breakfast for Emily, featuring a bowl of porridge, scrambled eggs, and strips of bacon. Amazingly, he even managed to bake two servings of a fluffy quiche.
And, as if his hands weren't full already, he somehow found the time to slide a pineapple pizza into the oven. The table was an aromatic delight.
Unable to resist, Agnes sneakily tore off a piece of pizza and took a bite. It was both savory and sweet, melting deliciously in her mouth.
Jared finally came over with a bowl of garden salad, sitting down and pouring some almond milk for Agnes as he asked, “How’s the taste?”
Agnes gave him two thumbs up, “Hats off to the chef, it’s absolutely delicious.”
Delicious was an understatement for Jared’s culinary skills.
Jared mentioned, “What do you think about me opening a little bistro? I’ve even thought of a name - 'The Family Trio'. We could just take reservations, catering to small families like us.”
'The Family Trio'?
The name might sound a bit old-school, but it had a heartwarming ring to it.
However, Agnes's brows furrowed slightly.
She said, “Jared, your talent and skills would be wasted on being a chef.”
Even though Agnes had often joked that Jared was a chef missed by the corporate world, the idea of him actually opening a diner made her feel like it was a pity.
Jared simply smiled, “I've spent the first half of my life battling in the corporate world, always busy, yet it feels like I’ve gained nothing but wealth. I want to spend more time with you and our son, cooking for you both makes me happy.”
Hearing this warmed Agnes's heart.
