Jared cut in, lacking any sense of romance, “Esther’s not your daughter, and White’s not a dog, he’s a wolf.”
Agnes rolled her eyes at him, “Can’t I have my little fantasy?”
Jared wrapped his arms around Agnes’s waist, “Things are pretty great as they are. I don’t need anything more than this—just watching Nocturne grow up fills my heart.”
But deep down, Agnes had always harbored the thought of having another child. To her, having either a son or a daughter would be equally wonderful.
Firstly, she felt their relationship lacked a certain sense of security; perhaps another child could strengthen their bond even more.
Secondly, Jared had missed Nocturne’s early years, and Agnes always wanted to make up for that somehow. Yet, given Nocturne’s condition, Agnes didn’t want her attention divided. She wanted to love him with all her heart.
So, Agnes had decided to wait until Nocturne’s condition improved before considering another child. After all, a larger family meant more warmth, especially for Jared who often felt lonely inside. Family meant everything to him.
Suddenly, Agnes had an idea, “Jared, I want you to meet someone tomorrow.”
“Who do you want me to meet?” Jared asked.
“Reggie.”
Jared tensed up at the mention of the name.
