Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1070

Agnes went into the kitchen and cooked a bowl of dumplings, her favorite: pork and wild greens. The fresh aroma of the wild greens lingered in her mouth with each bite. As her stomach gradually filled, Agnes felt her body energize. Jared had always been the one making sacrifices for her. This time, no matter what, she had to be brave. After all, it wasn’t just about the two of them; it also concerned the fate of The Tim Group and countless families.

Agnes finished the bowl in one go and then went back to her room to sleep. She set an alarm, but she couldn’t sleep the entire night.

Agnes woke up very early. She took a shower, cooked herself breakfast, and after eating, she took extra care in her appearance, applying a light makeup before heading out.

It was early spring, and the weather wasn’t too cold anymore. The weather today was exceptionally good. Agnes hailed a cab to the Willowbrook Town Hall, timing her arrival perfectly at 9 AM. Ryder was already waiting at the entrance.

Ryder was very pleased to see Agnes and quickly walked over. He was dressed impeccably in a suit and tie, with a white shirt underneath. His hair seemed meticulously groomed, and he looked very spirited. His face, already handsome, seemed even more so today, with a pair of unusually gentle eyes. The sunlight on his slightly smiling face reminded Agnes of the young man in a white shirt standing under the basketball hoop on their school playground.

But time had changed so much. Many things could never go back to the way they were.

Ryder walked up to Agnes and said, “Agnes, you’re here.”

Agnes’s expression was cool, and she merely responded with a faint “Hmm.” Ryder, however, looked intently at her and said, “Agnes, you look beautiful today.”

Agnes was wearing a white coat. Her entire figure was wrapped in the coat, making her look clean and pure. Her face, already somewhat youthful, combined with her fair skin, made her appear even younger. She had naturally bright eyes and white teeth, and her lips were a vivid red even without lipstick. At a glance, she looked like an 18-year-old high school student, pure and striking. However, her cool aura couldn’t be ignored.

Agnes said, “Let’s not waste any more time. Let’s go in.”

Agnes turned and entered the town hall. It was Monday. Agnes didn’t expect so many people to be getting married today. They went through a pile of paperwork and even a necessary premarital checkup. An hour later, only the certificate remained.

However, they had to queue for that. The line ahead was long. Couples were cuddling, chatting, and laughing, filling the air with a sweet atmosphere.

The couple in front of Agnes kept sneaking glances at Ryder, and the girl whispered to Agnes, “Your husband is so handsome.”

Agnes forced a smile but said nothing. The young couple just thought Agnes was cold.

After half an hour, it was finally Agnes and Ryder's turn. The clerk handed them two forms: “Please fill these out.”

They quickly filled out the forms and handed them back. Then the clerk asked for their IDs. The red marriage certificates were being processed. Once the official stamp was placed, they would be legally married, recognized as partners in the eyes of the law, ready to face whatever the future held together.
