Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 687

Agnes whirled around, only to find her neck strangled from behind before she could even react. She tried to fight back, but her assailant had anticipated this, and promptly shoved a chloroform-soaked cloth over her mouth and nose.

Agnes only struggled for a moment before her consciousness started to fade, but before her eyes closed, she faintly recognized that face. It was Hammer, the butler of the Thomas family.

Hammer had been trailing Agnes for several days now. But the girl was vigilant, nearly exposing him on multiple occasions. Thankfully, today, he had found the perfect opportunity.

Agnes was staying at Eden Nights before, a place Hammer had no chance to make a move on.

However, Agnes had moved out two days ago for some reason.

Now, she was staying in a small inn.

The underground parking was simple and the security cameras were long broken.

This was the perfect time to strike.

Hammer, with a cruel determination, pressed the cloth harder against Agnes' mouth and nose.

Agnes struggled for a moment, but quickly lost her senses under the influence of chloroform.

Looking around, Hammer ensured no one was in sight.

He hurriedly shoved Agnes into the backseat, jumped into the driver's seat and ignited the engine. But just as Hammer's car was about to exit the underground car park, Jared's car made a U-turn back.

Hammer had watched from the shadows as the two had argued earlier. He had decided to strike after Jared left, when Agnes was in a state of shock and less alert. But Hammer hadn't expected Jared to return so quickly.

Trying to stay calm, Hammer drove past Jared's car.

Agnes was now lying in the backseat of his car, and he could only hope that Jared didn't see it.

Still, Hammer couldn't help but feel anxious and sped up.

Jared drove into the car park and noticed something amiss.

Agnes' car door was still open, a set of keys lay on the ground next to the car.
