Her Second Chance novel Chapter 5

THE PAST LIFE.......

21st, FEBRUARY, 1995.

The Crescent pack.

"Hey Claude, get away from the fish pond. The Alpha will berate us if he catches you here!" The head maid shooed young Claude away from the fish pond. However, she remained in her position.

"I don't see why you should send her away. She is the Alpha's daughter you know.". A boy's voice sounded behind them. They whirled around simultaneously, and saw a little boy with dark curly hair. His eyes were twinkling in mischief.

"Xavier! You are here!!" Claude squealed and rushed over to him. She engulfed him in a childish hug, and they both fell to the ground.

"Obviously I am." Xavier patted her hair fondly.

"What took you so long?" Claude frowned. She had been waiting for his arrival. Playing with stuffed animals didn't kill her boredom one bit. And so, she came downstairs to play with the fishes in the pond. However, the maids wouldn't hear of it. She was glad her best friend had visited.

Xavier was the only son of Alpha Murphy; the Alpha of the Blood moon pack. He was the next Alpha as he had no siblings. Xavier was a stubborn and spirited child; so full of life. He was friends with Claude, the daughter of the Alpha of the Crescent pack.

He was nine years, while Claude was six. They were both inseparable as they virtually did most things together.

Currently, they were both on their way to their usual spot; the woods behind the Crescent pack house.

"Why didn't you go in to greet my dad?" Claude chuckled in a childish manner. Her eyes sparkled, and her hair which was held up in a ponytail, bounced as she sprinted on their way deeper into the woods.

"Already saw him. He was the one who told me where you were." Young Xavier grabbed her hands and dragged her as he shouted,

"You can't keep up with racing with me, if I don't assist you!" He shouted.

"Boo..." Claude made faces at him, and giggled.

The both of them soon got to a clearing and plopped down on the ground, panting as they gazed at the clear sky.

"That was fun!" Claude panted.

"Of course, I'm always fun!" Xavier panted in response. "So, what do you suggest we do?" He added.

"I have no idea. Suggest something. Should we make legos?" She suggested.

"No, we made a lot of that yesterday. Suggest something else." He shook his head.

"No, you suggest something this time. I won't play with you anymore." Claude humphed childishly, and crossed her arms.

"Why? Common, Claude. I meant we shouldn't continue doing the same thing continuously on a stretch. Common." Xavier coaxed her helplessly.

"Whatever. I heard something interesting from Dad yesterday." Claude drew closer to him, and whispered something inti his ears.

In response, Xavier's eyes widened, "Really? So, at 18, we can awaken our wolf? Great! Although Father said something like that to me once, I doubted his words. You know he loves to joke." Xavier winked.

"Yes. And I have finally thought about what we can do!" Claude shouted excitedly.

"And what is that?" Xavier was also excited.

"Let's have a race!" Claude divulged.

"Perfect!!" Xavier said, clapping his hands.
