His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire? novel Chapter 202

"This ain't no nightmare, it's more like a midnight fright." Cassius joked, taking a sip of his red wine.

After all, he and Arnold were spending the evening with their sister. Even Unfaithful Thaddeus wouldn't dare to mess around.

Otherwise, the dagger hidden in his cross necklace wasn't just for show, not even Jesus could save him then.

"Unfaithful Thaddeus really has the guts to come here? Quick, prepare for battle!" Arnold cursed, eyes glued to the screen, fingers flying over the keyboard.

"Prepare for battle? What kind of battle, a keyboard duel?"

Evadne shook her head, looking agitated. "I'm the one who summoned this demon. It's only right that I send it away. Let me go check."

She approached the entrance alone and switched on the video call.

The screen lit up, revealing Thaddeus' handsome face with a hint of coldness.

"What are you here for?"

Evadne asked, her expression calm as if she didn't know him, "No other places to go in Elmsworth? You just have to loiter around my house?"

"Evadne, come out. Let's talk." Thaddeus ignored her sarcasm, his voice deep.

"So we can't talk like this? Is it that you think I can't see your face, or I can't hear your voice?"

The man swallowed hard, letting out a sigh.

She really was as cold as ice.

"Evadne, stop fooling around. Come out, I have something to tell you."

"Fooling around? Which eye of yours saw me fooling around with you? I'm clearly trying to drive you away. Can't you see that?" Evadne couldn't help but sneer.

"I want to see you."

Thaddeus' eyes glittered in the dim light, his voice hoarse as if he was suppressing a lot of complex emotions, barely managing to voice out his desires, as if he had left all his pride and dignity behind.

"I want to see you."

Evadne's heart clenched. She stepped back slightly.

After a moment, she took a deep breath and laughed lightly.

If it was in the past, she would have cried tears of joy hearing Thaddeus say these words, she would do anything to hear him say this.

But now, his desire came too late. Their relationship had changed. If she continued to cling on, she would only demean herself.

"Thaddeus, the adult world is cruel. You can't always get what you want. Things can't always go your way."

Evadne tilted her head, her mocking smile sent shivers down his spine, "You're the one who taught me this, remember? It took you three years."

"Evadne." Thaddeus choked, his whole body tensed.

"It shouldn't rain tonight."

Evadne gazed at the moon, her voice cold, "Thaddeus, last time I went out to meet you. It was because I was afraid you might get struck by lightning. This time, unless it's raining knives, I won't go out to see you. Just leave."

Beep.

The video call ended, leaving Thaddeus standing in the unfeeling darkness.

Thaddeus stood outside, surrounded by the cold autumn air, chilling his tall frame.

Evadne returned upstairs with heavy steps.

She really couldn't understand. How could the man who used to treat her so coldly have the audacity to say he wanted to see her after their divorce? It was utterly shameless.

What was there to say anyway? In the past three years, he could have talked to her openly, but he chose to ignore her in their spacious villa.

She had already wasted three years, and she wouldn't waste any more time on this man.

Evadne walked into the study, Jason asked worriedly, "How did it go? Did Thaddeus upset you?"

"Hmph, he wouldn't dare!"

Evadne walked over to Cassius, draped her arms around his neck and cooed.

"Did you manage to upset Thaddeus?" Cassius asked with a smile.

"Um, no."

"What a pity."

Cassius gently touched her cheek, jokingly said, "With me here tonight, you should've given him a good beating, that would've let off some steam."

Evadne responded dryly, "Cassius, I appreciate your kindness, but as a devout believer, we should resolve issues peacefully."

"Evadne! I've found it! Go get a bottle of the most expensive red wine to celebrate me!" Arnold shouted excitedly, hands raised high.

"Jason, go get a bottle of our best red wine from the cellar for Arnold."
