His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire? novel Chapter 213

A question as sharp as a needle's point had all eyes in the room settled on Kevin.

Kevin, under Evadne's smiling yet piercing gaze, felt a slight shiver at the heart. But he still managed to respond calmly, "It's no secret in our circle anymore. The Abernathy Group had a previous run-in with us, and Ada was caught in the middle, swaying between you and Mr. Thaddeus. But in the end, your superior skills won you the right to host the wedding. Now that we've fallen short, and with Ada's wedding drawing near, it's only natural that she'd turn to the Abernathy Group, isn't it?"

His words were so well-measured that they left no room for objection.

Evadne's eyes curved into a smile, and she leaned back comfortably in her chair. "Your analysis is good, but you've overlooked one point. As far as I know, the Abernathy Group and Ada have yet to sign a formal contract."

The room gasped in surprise, "What? It's been a week and they still haven't signed?"

Kevin kept a poker face, but his expression was obviously becoming strained.

"If they had signed, wouldn't the Abernathy Group be trumpeting the news? Their silence suggests things have yet to progress. That means we still have a chance."

Evadne spun her chair leisurely, "You see, I'm a stubborn one by nature. I never give up until the last moment. So, I've devised a new plan, which I intend to present to Ada in the coming days. Let's see if we can catch the Abernathy Group off guard."

The room erupted into applause. "That's President Ashbourne! So assertive!"

Kevin forced a smile, joining in the applause.

"But President Ashbourne," Kevin began, "at the end of the day, we were the ones who breached the contract initially. I suspect Ada already has a grudge against us. Won't you be hitting a brick wall trying to negotiate with her again?"

"That’s true. Some things can't be forced."

Evadne's lips were a rich red, her eyes sparkling like black diamonds, her smile was unapologetically bold.

"Just because life is full of disappointments doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Even if it seems impossible, I'm going to give it a shot!"

After the meeting, the project team members left.

The large conference room was left with only Evadne and Jason.

Evadne accepted the coffee Jason handed her, standing in front of the large floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the grand view of Elmsworth, and sipped her coffee in a relaxed manner.

"Miss Evadne, you mentioned in the meeting that you've devised a new plan. Were you telling a lie?" Jason stood beside her, asking tentatively.

"I was, and I caught something."

Jason's eyes widened in excitement, "Really? Who?"

"I have suspicions, but no evidence, so I can't be sure."

Evadne's eyes darkened, "Jason, I want you to follow Kevin after work tonight. Report to me immediately about who he meets and any unusual movements."

The next day, Marilla woke up, and was personally escorted home by Thaddeus.

With his intimidating presence, Elspeth, although displeased, didn't dare say anything in front of Frederic.

As for Glynnis, she didn't dare make a sound, because she was the one who had wronged Marilla and Elspeth wouldn't say anything. But if her father found out, he would definitely reprimand her.

In the evening, Marilla lay on her bed, cuddling the teddy bear she had regained. She tried to recall what had happened the night before, her heart beating faster and her cheeks turning slightly red.

In truth, she had a bit of a blackout the previous night and couldn't remember what happened or how she got home.

All she could remember was the moment the lights went out, the heavy kiss landed on her soft lips, teasing and tantalizing her inviting lips.

And those burning eyes, staring straight at her, as if they wanted to see into her heart.

Marilla took a deep breath, got out of bed, and sat down at the table.

She took out her sketchbook and pencil, closed her eyes for a few seconds, and then began to sketch on the white paper.

After about ten minutes, a handsome face with sharp features, reminiscent of a beautiful Satan with a hint of wickedness, appeared on the paper.

Marilla looked at her drawing, gently touching his beautiful eyes.

"Jareth, you're really very handsome."

What Marilla didn't know was that the handsome Jareth had already driven a red Ferrari alone into Windermere Estate.

"Who did you say is here?"

Elspeth had been admiring the autumn scenery in the backyard with Frederic when the butler came to report, and she was taken aback.

"Madam, it's the eldest son of the Fairhaven family."

"At this hour?"

Frederic checked his watch and frowned slightly, "Thaddeus isn't home, and he should know that. And it's almost dinner time, why would he come now?"
