Evadne had taken care of Marilla's issues and returned to the mansion with Jason.

On the way back, she couldn't help but replay the scene where Thaddeus had wiped her hair. Her heart clenched and her mouth became dry.

"I'm sorry, this is my first time doing this. I don't have much experience."

Returning home, Evadne kicked off her heels. Instead of rushing to rest, she sat on the couch with a gloomy face.

Jason brought her a warm cup of milk, full of concern. "Miss Evadne, it's late. You should go to bed once you've had a drink."

"How did Marilla and Jareth cross paths tonight? Marilla has always been closely watched by the Abernathy family. What's going on?" Evadne found it hard to sleep, worried about the unfortunate girl.

"I asked Jareth. He didn't know why Marilla would appear at his club. He said that she was nervously looking for something and might have been in danger if he hadn't run into her."

Evadne frowned, "Looking for something? What?"

"A teddy bear you gave her."

"I asked him if there was anything unusual at the club. He said no. But he mentioned his sister, Edith." Jason used his lawyer skills to get the information he needed.

"I see."

Evadne's eyes narrowed. She hadn't seen it with her own eyes, but she could piece together what had happened. "Glynnis, you really can't change your ways, can you? Those who dare to bully Marilla, I'll make sure they pay!"

Jareth, chased home by Thaddeus, arrived home in the early morning.

He lay in bed, eyes closed. His mind was filled with images of kissing Marilla in a hazy light.

Her lips were sweet and soft, and utterly intoxicating.

"Damn it! I'm a beast!"

Jareth cursed, closed his eyes to sleep, but the discomfort below forced him to get up and take a 20-minute cold shower before he could finally relax.

"Jareth, you've gone too far!"

"Too far? Just because I told you not to hang out at Sapphire Nights Club and not to hang out with Glynnis?"

Jareth raised his hand to touch Edith's head, sighed, "Edith, why are you so naive? Can’t you tell right from wrong?"

"Don't touch me with the hand that has touched Marilla, it's filthy!"

Edith slapped his hand away, unable to contain her resentment towards Marilla.

"Edith, what did you say?" Jareth's pupils constricted, staring at his sister in disbelief.

Edith, humiliated by being taken away in public, vented her anger at her brother, "I hate Marilla! You are mine and mine alone. Who does she think she is trying to take you away from me?"
