His Secret Spoiled Wife (Lily and Alexander) novel Chapter 1348

In the lab, Thompson was holding onto the results that did not come easily. He was grinning from ear to ear. “Great! Although we’ve only succeeded with these two types of herbs, it’s still a huge step forward.

“If we can get through this, I’m sure we’ll overcome all other obstacles too!” Smiling, he said to Lily, “I was afraid you didn’t want to come back. It’s best if you remain with us now.”

Lily removed her gloves and washed her hands under the running water as she said, “Professor Thompson, there are some things I want to discuss with you.”

“What is it?” Thompson nodded in high spirits.

“I’ll return to the lab and continue with the experiments, but I won’t touch any herbs with strong effects,” Lily said, “If you agree to that, then I’ll be back for good. If you don’t, then consider the success of these two experiments a token of my appreciation to you.”

That meant she would not return to the lab anymore after this experiment. Thompson’s smile froze, making him think of what Mike had said before this. Coughing, he said, “Sure, we can talk that out. We should do that anyway.”

“You know I’m pregnant now. I wouldn’t risk it by touching all those poisonous herbs.” Lily finished washing her hands and turned to face Thompson as she continued, “Plus, this research had a good starting point, but we can’t be sure about its final effects on its consumers.

“Although those more potent herbs with poisonous properties could cure diseases, we shouldn’t put their side effects aside. We must carefully observe the process of preparing the medicine, and the amount used must be precise.

“Extracting the medicinal content of the herbs and infusing it into scented candles will have inconsistent effects when burned. If the consumers are not careful about it…”

Thompson interjected, “I know that. I understand your concerns, so I agree to stop those experiments involving poisonous herbs. Let’s focus on our current task, and we’ll leave the rest to discuss in the future. We’ll go with what you say. How about that?”

Lily was stunned before nodding. “Okay.”

She was unsure if she was overthinking things, but Thompson had agreed to her request way too quickly. She could not help but get suspicious over that.

She brought the matter to him before, but he insisted on continuing the experiments regardless of their difficulty. He also insisted that they must solve its problems. He would also say that poisons were part of medicines. However, he agreed to her request so quickly today.

Since he did so, she did not need to contemplate things too much. Nodding, she said, “Well then, that’s all for today. I’ll be heading home now.”

“Okay!” Thompson agreed while his attention had been on the two tiny bottles the entire time. His joy was evident. “Have a good rest. You’ll only be able to do more experiments when you’re feeling better!”

“Sure!” Lily answered and looked at him for a moment longer before leaving. The success of the experiment today was within her expectations. Since she succeeded this time, the following experiments would not be too challenging for her.

However, she became even more worried because of that. It was still the same old concern. What was this experiment’s end goal? Was it genuinely for humankind’s benefit and to explore more alternatives to curing illnesses?

With that doubt in mind, she reached home and noticed that the Rollins family car was still there. It seemed that Anastasia had not left yet.

Sure enough, she saw Anastasia happily playing with Galen in one corner of the living room as soon as she entered the door.
