"I don't care about what hobbies you have. Just behave yourself. Marrying into the Riggs family will benefit not only you but the Russells as well. Your dad's preference for your brother is the only reason Alex is the way he is. If you were a better son, why wouldn’t he pass the family fortune to you instead of to that little b*stard?"
"Dad is obviously biased! He has always favored Patrick and his son. Otherwise, who would hand over the company to their grandson instead of their son? After so many years, people are still laughing at me about this!" Ralph was riled up as soon as this was mentioned.
Ralph's circle of friends was mostly made up of wealthy family sons. Even though not all of them succeeded in taking over the family businesses, this was typically because of disputes between brothers. No one was fighting with their nephew like he was.
To be frank, there was no time or place for him to fight for the company at all. When Hugo was still alive, he had already decided that all his fortunes would be passed on to Alexander, one after the other.
Regardless of how dissatisfied Ralph was, he did not dare confront Hugo. Ralph only watched helplessly as what should have belonged to him became someone else's.
He became the joke of the town because of how openly this situation had been handled, too.
"Those people are just short-sighted. Why do you have to be angry?" Margaret shot him a look.
"Didn't I tell you that you must learn to bend and stretch? It's only through those hardships that you will come up in time. Be patient, and wait for your turn. Look, isn't your time coming?"
"Do you think that marrying Ms. Riggs can get me what I want?" Ralph said with a snort.
He wasn't expecting much, despite his anticipation of what might happen. "Alex doesn't even listen to you. How can you expect him to hand over whatever he has?"
Hearing this, Margaret nodded. "You're right. You should just wait for him to let the company go.
Don't underestimate the Riggs. They're also a family of kickboxers. They'd been living on a remote island for a long time, but they were always the center of attention.
I heard that many of the Riggs' disciples were recruited as secret agents. They’re not only strong but also well-connected with an abundance of resources. It'll be great if you could marry into such a family," she explained earnestly. "In comparison to that woman, the Lodge family is doomed. She has no backup. She's no threat at all."
The more Ralph listened, the more it made sense. After all, she had been through so much that she could see things that most people don't.
"I got it. I'm going to ask Ms. Riggs out tomorrow!" He seemed to have realized that by marrying this woman, he could get what he wanted. Therefore, he was now keen on marriage, wishing he could get it done and over with.
"Ms. Riggs is the apple of the Riggs' eyes. She might be a little arrogant and strange. I heard that she's very indifferent to outsiders. You better control yourself and don't piss her off."
As soon as Ralph heard this, he was immediately unhappy again. "Why should I marry her if she has so many shortcomings? Why can't I find someone better?"
Margaret shot him another look and retorted, "Do you not know your reputation out there? While you look down on commoners, the noble families all have their eyes on Alex. No one will even know you exist. If Ms. Riggs didn't have that many flaws, what made you think you had a chance with her?"
After shooting him down, she took a deep breath before continuing, "Don't overthink it. The most you'd have to do is coax her. Keep in mind that this is all for the sake of your future.”
