Elizabeth Liang stayed silent, but well—she was pretty happy.
James Lu took her to meet his parents, which meant that he was still going to marry her. His parents agreed to their marriage, and he agreed to hold off the wedding. It was like all her worries had suddenly disappeared. Of course she was ecstatic!
Elizabeth felt like she had basically suddenly won five million dollars.
"I'm glad you're happy, but I don't do things for free." James was going to make sure he got something out of it!
"What do you want me to do?"
"Well..." He gently tapped on the car door, thought for a moment, and said, "Since I helped you, shouldn't you show your gratitude?"
"Huh?" Elizabeth paused. "How?"
James slammed the door shut, turned around and leaned against the car. He looked at her with a sly smile and said, "Come on, give me a kiss." He pointed to his face.
"What..." Elizabeth was completely bewildered.
Was James still in character? He was already hugging and touching her during the whole thing, and now he wanted her to kiss him?
Elizabeth thought it was ridiculous, but her heart was beating faster for some reason. Thump, thump, thump... The beating was getting more and more intense.
"What's wrong? You don't want to?" James squinted at Elizabeth as his eyes darkened, revealing a hint of danger.
"No... we can't do this..." Her heart was beating fast, but her mind was sober. He and she were just using each other, there was no love between them. So how could they act like real lovers do?
"Can't do what?" He asked out loud. After waiting for a while, he nodded again and acted like he finally understood. "Oh you're right, we shouldn't be doing this."
She nodded vigorously.
Exactly! They shouldn't!
"In that case, how about we change the game?"
"To what?"
He smiled deviously and said, "You don't want to kiss me, and I don't want the short end of the stick, so I'll only make a few requests. You won't turn them down, will you?"
"..." From the looks of it, they probably weren't very simple requests.
James saw through her doubts and gave her a charming and gentle smile. "Don't worry, it's easy!"
"Tell me then."
He says it's easy, but she still found it hard to believe.
"You're going to school right?" "Of course!"
"No problem! I support you. After all, school is important."
Elizabeth nodded repeatedly. She's glad he understands!
"However, I want you to come back to South Lake villa every day. Do you remember when I said that I'll hire help to clean the house and cook? Well, I've decided not to. Since you're a pretty good cook, I'm assuming cleaning won't be a problem for you either, correct? You can just do that instead of paying rent. Any questions?"
"By the way, my work is very tiring. I need you to make ten dishes and a soup every single night, and they must be ready by the time I come home. My temper gets worse when I'm hungry, understood?"
He finished without missing a beat, then took out a cigarette. His movements were cool and nonchalant, but there was a hint of cunningness on his face.
Elizabeth widened her eyes and looked at him incredulously.
That was merciful of him to offset the rent, like he even needed the money at all. And anyway...
"Don't you have a part-time cleaner?" She has come over the past few days to do the cleaning.
"I've dismissed her."
