"Uncle Wu, Uncle Wu! Stop making me listen to that disgusting word!"
"Calm down first, okay?" Elizabeth Liang sighed slightly. "I admit that I should have told you in advance, but I did it because I felt guilty that I embarrassed you and made you lose the deal, didn't I? So..."
James Lu was incensed at this point, so he began ridiculing her without thought, "So you made use of your body?"
"What... what are you saying?" Elizabeth held back her anger. "I did go and find him because of that piece of land, but it wasn't like what you thought."
"Like what? Tell me."
James walked to the sofa and plopped down. He lit a cigarette in frustration and exasperation.
Elizabeth followed and sat beside him. "We only chatted for a bit, and nothing else happened."
"You guys chatted for thirty minutes?" James raised his eyebrows sarcastically. "If I hadn't gone there, what would have happened after you finished chatting?"
"You..." Elizabeth's face turned red from anger. She didn't understand why he was so low and vulgar.
She couldn't understand why he took care of her so gently in the morning by massaging her wounds and comforting her, but became a stranger to her now. It made her feel bitter.
"Can't talk anymore? I'm not dead, Elizabeth, I don't need you to stand up for me!"
She couldn't help but feel a little panicked at how enraged he was.
Dumbfounded, Elizabeth stretched out her hand to hold his and said, "James ..."
As soon as her hand touched his arm, he aggressively swatted it away. "Get lost!"
James has got plenty of brawn from all those fights he had been in since he was a kid. He couldn't control his strength since he was so aggravated, so Elizabeth was pushed right onto the sofa.
Elizabeth accidentally pulled on her injured waist, causing her to gasp from the pain.
"Ah..."
James froze for a moment. He felt a little bad as he watched her gasping for air on the sofa, but he couldn't bring himself to ask her if she was okay. However, his face twisted even further and his eyebrows were deeply furrowed together, signifying his terrible mood at the moment.
After Elizabeth recovered from the pain, she slowly sat up and looked angry.
"I don't know why you're so angry. If you're mad that I went to find Uncle Wu without telling you first, you could have at least listened to my explanation." She bit her lip and continued, "I went to find him because I felt guilty. Of course I listened to everything you said today. That's why I felt guilty enough to do this. You lost face and your business deal because of me, and I couldn't just sit around as if nothing had happened."
Elizabeth refused to look at James as well. "I screwed it up, so I tried to make amends. I don't think I was wrong for doing that. But you say that I made use of my body ..." She took a deep breath to calm herself down, but her eyes were still ringed with red. "I dated Theodore Chao for years, and maybe you'd say that I was just too young back then, but I'm almost 22 now, and still nothing had happened between us. How could I possibly let anything happen between me and someone who is in my father's age ..."
Hearing this, James gritted his teeth and tightly squeezed the cigarette in his hand, causing it to warp and deform.
Although he wasn't looking at her, he could tell that her voice was trembling. What he said just now was out of impulsive rage, and thinking back on it he realized that he was truthfully a little too harsh.
"I know you care about that property a lot, and I really wanted to help you get it, but believe it or not I have my own principles. I went to the Grand Dynasty to find him and do what I could." Elizabeth slowly stood up and looked towards him. "I call him Uncle Wu because I found out just now that he was my father's close friend. There is nothing indecent about our relationship. I stayed there firstly to talk about the property, and secondly just for a simple chat. He told me many things about my father's past."
James was stunned. He was completely frozen, unable to react to this sudden revelation.
"By the way, Uncle Wu said that the property is yours now."
