Marcus said, "Recently, I noticed that granny acts weird whenever she hears the name Clair. She told me she knew someone by that name. So, she asked for a picture of Clair to see if it was the same person. I got the picture and had someone look into Clair's background. Turns out, she's from Rosenberg, was married once, and has a daughter there."
Cornelia asked, "You knew all this and didn't tell me?"
Marcus replied, "I didn't want you to know you have a mother like that. I hoped you wouldn't ever have to know who your mother is, that you wouldn't have to suffer like I did."
Cornelia gave a bitter smile, "Now we're in the same boat, nobody's looking down on anyone anymore."
Marcus said, "If you want, I can keep Clair away from you, so she won't bother you."
Cornelia responded, "No worries, I actually want to see how shameless she can be."
Marcus asked, "She knew you were her daughter but denied it. I don't understand why she suddenly came to Rosenberg to recognize you?"
Cornelia replied, "Seems like you, the big boss of the Hartley Group, only care about making money and don't understand the ugly people's mind."
Cornelia continued, "She didn't want to recognize me before because she didn't know my husband was you. To her, I was of no use, and could even be a hindrance to her success, so she wanted to get rid of me. This morning her daughter Natalia video called me. You were in the video, and then Clair came running to Rosenberg. Clearly, she came for you. She wants to recognize you as her son-in-law, not me as her daughter."
Mentioning Natalia, Marcus thought of something, "Cornelia, you might have a sister out there."
