Love Beyond the Mask novel Chapter 604

Danny still hadn't warmed up to Bryce.

Whitney looked into her son's beautiful, clear eyes, and all she saw was concern for her, even amidst his cold demeanor.

She smiled gently, mindful of her makeup and thus refraining from kissing her son's cheek. "Danny, I don't believe Bryce will change his heart. I can feel it. Otherwise, your mom wouldn't have agreed to marry him."

"You don't see him clearly!" Danny retorted, frustration evident in his voice.

Whitney calmed herself and whispered the truth into Danny's ear, "Danny, mommy has to get married... It's the only way to bring Sammy back to us. Do you understand?"

Danny's eyes widened in shock. Sammy? Was his mom making a deal for Sammy's return? With Florence, perhaps?

"For Sammy, we need to try our best. And remember, I truly do love Bryce, and I'm marrying him with all my heart. Please, try to accept that," Whitney said as she was helped to her feet by the stylist, moving towards the full-length mirror.

Danny remained still, shocked by the revelation.

"Whitney!" Tiana, looking pale after reading a text message, approached her. Her usually composed face was now filled with panic. "Parker just texted me... Ludwik is on his way here on a flight."

Whitney felt as if the air had been squeezed out of her lungs. She had deliberately avoided any news of Ludwik, believing he was still in Amoria Country.

"What do we do?" Tiana fretted, the urgency clear in her voice. "Parker's message was at ten, meaning Ludwik boarded the plane around that time. It takes at least two and a half hours to get to Banyan City. If he hurries, he could easily find our hotel, and he might arrive before the wedding ceremony even ends. I can't even imagine the scene if he bursts in..."

"Then we'll just have to start the wedding ceremony earlier!" Bryce declared, entering the room in a sharp white suit, his presence commanding yet graceful. He walked over to Whitney and took her hand. "I'll notify the hotel to begin the ceremony at 11:18 AM."

Whitney frowned, "Is that okay, Bryce? What about your family and friends? Your parents already disapprove of me..."

"Don't worry about it! I've only invited close family and friends, no outsiders," Bryce reassured her, gently patting her shoulder. "As for my parents, we've come too far for them to object now. And about the engagement ceremony three years ago, well, let them talk. Whitney, don't mind them... Also, I've invited plenty of journalists to the wedding. We're not hiding anything. Even if Ludwik shows up, he wouldn't dare make a scene and steal the bride in public. Remember, you're legally my wife now, Whitney. We've already registered our marriage this morning. I'll display our marriage certificate on the big screen at the ceremony!"

Whitney was stunned by Bryce's thorough planning and his refusal to hide or downplay their relationship. Normally, no man would dare to publicly claim another's wife.

But Ludwik... Whitney clenched her cold fingers. She had seen his madness and cruelty firsthand.

Why couldn't he just leave their past behind and say goodbye properly?

Her mind was a chaotic mix of fear and hatred.

Tiana, trying to offer some comfort as Bryce left, suggested, "Maybe Ludwik has moved on and just wants to see you one last time..."

But even she didn't believe her own words.

"It's just our fate," Tiana sighed. "You managed to catch the eye of the dragon and made a deal to marry him for a year, only to flee with your son. And then he rose to become the top bachelor in Harmonia Country, his obsession with you becoming lawless. He could discard you at will, but you can't seem to escape him."

Tears welled up in Whitney's eyes. If she couldn't escape Ludwik's grasp this time, she was prepared to fight him, even if it meant her death. Did he not understand that his interference could cost Sammy his life?
