Amanda raised an eyebrow with a mix of pride and playfulness, "Of course, my daughter-in-law is nothing short of exceptional."
"But you know what I'd cherish even more than these trophies? I'd love to hear your mom sing, Roman. Have you ever heard her?"
Nodding enthusiastically, Roman replied, "Yeah, we sing all the time when we're cooking together. I think Mom's voice is the best in the whole wide world!"
"Grandma, you can't ask Roman that; he's a total fanboy for Astar. She could burp, and he'd call it music." Lucas Lampard's teasing was merciless.
Roman muttered under his breath, clearly annoyed, "Lucas, are you asking for it?"
Lucas lounged back, unfazed, "You promised Astar you wouldn't pick on me. I'm not scared of you."
Roman puffed up with indignation, "Just you wait until you're better!"
Yawning lazily, Lucas replied with the confidence of a street-smart rogue, "And what will you do, little tubby? Think you can even reach my knee if you jump?"
"Oh no, wait, you can't jump at all because you're too... heavy!"
"Lucas Lampard!!!" Roman's voice rose in frustration.
Lucas couldn't resist another jab, "Ah, the handsome one is here. What can I do for you?"
"I can't take it anymore, Grandma! I'm going to clobber him!" Roman tossed his phone aside, rolled up his sleeves, and made to pounce on Lucas.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Amanda sighed, "Ah, that must be your dad and mom returning!"
At the mention of Astrid, Roman's frown turned upside down, and he scampered to the door with a grin plastered on his face.
The butler opened the door to reveal Elio standing on the doorstep, which made Roman's smile falter, "Elio, where's my mom?"
