Chapter 162 The Award Party
Christian's gaze was unfathomable.
He looked at Anastasia deeply as if suppressing some emotion.
Holding a glass of champagne, Anastasia felt a bit bewildered. She then heard him speak slowly in a hoarse voice,
"Jake is missing. He was taken away this afternoon during the hospital reexamination."
Anastasia was stunned. Not saying a word, she just looked at Christian with a silent and cold gaze.
She didn't expect Christian to suspect her when Jake was missing.
Anastasia suddenly found it somewhat ridiculous.
She sneered, "So what? Are you here to question me?"
"Anastasia, Jake is just a nonverbal child..."
He couldn't threaten anyone.
Christian's voice was rough, and his gaze was gloomy as if he was deliberately suppressing his emotions.
Anastasia lowered her eyes, setting the glass in her hand down heavily, then looked up at Christian.
"Christian, you suspected I would harm Jake just because I asked you if he was with Beatrice. Now that he's missing, you also suspect I had something to do with it, right?"
Christian frowned tightly, seemingly struggling with conflicting emotions and pain.
"I didn't suspect you. But Beatrice said she saw you..."
Anastasia rolled her eyes speechlessly and then took a deep breath.
Beatrice didn't miss any opportunity to accuse her!
Maybe one day, when she was dead, she would leave a will accusing Anastasia!
How unlucky!
Before Anastasia could speak, Beatrice hurriedly ran over from the corridor. Her face was ashen, and tears streamed down from her eyes. She immediately knelt in front of Anastasia.
"Ms. Graves, please give Jake back to me. I know I was wrong, and won't be a nuisance anymore. I'll go far away. Please spare my boy!
"He's only three years old and can't be without me. Where have you hidden him?
