Married by Accident, Taming the Billionaire novel Chapter 268

Chapter 268 She Finally Unraveled the Truth

"I'm fine. How are you feeling?" Cecelia asked with concern.

"I'm much better," responded Verda.

The two of them stared at each other for a moment. Verda couldn't help but ask, "Miss Linsey, do you have something to say to me?"

Cecelia felt a lump in her throat. She lowered her eyes, and when she raised them again, her eyes were misted by tears. "Verda, do you remember anything about your childhood?"

"I do, what's wrong?" Verda became even more confused, wondering why Cecelia was acting so strangely today.

"Do you remember a brass whistle you had when you were young?" asked Cecelia.

"What whistle?" Verda was puzzled.

"This one." Cecelia took out the whistle and showed it to him. "Is this your whistle?"

Verda looked at it and shook his head. "No, Miss Linsey. This whistle is not mine."

"What?" Cecelia was surprised. "It's not yours? You gave it to Cyrus, didn't you?"

"I found it by accident and gave it to Cyrus, but it's not mine."

"It's not yours?" Cecelia was caught off guard.

She looked at Verda and then at the whistle in her hand, her convictions crumbling in an instant.

She thought to herself, "The whistle is not Verda's? How could it be?"

"You found it? Where did you find it, then? When did you find it?"

Cecelia finally realized that she might have made a mistake. If the whistle was found by Verda by accident, then Verda couldn't be her brother.

Then where was her brother now?

"I found it in my car when I went to pick up your children. I'm not sure who it belongs to."

Verda truthfully told her and asked, "What's wrong, Miss Linsey? Is there something wrong with this whistle?"

Cecelia's heart began to ache even more. She explained, "This whistle was my brother's when he was young. I asked Cyrus, and Cyrus said you gave it to him, so I thought you were my brother. But...."

Verda finally understood. "Miss Linsey, I am the only son in my family. I don't have a sister. I am certain about it. If this whistle belongs to Mr. Kevin, we can find him by following this clue."

"You're right. Are you sure you found it in your car?"

"Yes."

"Except for me, who else has been in your car?" Cecelia wanted to find out quickly.

"After getting cleaned, my car has only been occupied by you and the young masters." Something suddenly occurred to Verda. "Oh, by the way, you asked me to take the drunk Adam to the hotel. He also took my car."

"You mean... Adam?" Adam's smiling face suddenly flashed through Cecelia's mind, and her heart ached.

She wondered, "Could the whistle be dropped by Adam? Could he be my brother Kevin?"

The more Cecelia recalled, the more pain she felt. If Adam really was the memory-loss Kevin, then that should be why she felt an inexplicable closeness and warmth when she first met him.

With this in mind, Cecelia stood up. "Verda, rest well. I'm going to find Adam and ask him."

"Alright."

Cecelia didn't hesitate. She quickly left the hospital and asked Everest to stay to take care of Verda.

In the corridor, Cecelia ran into Remington. Remington noticed her anxious expression and asked, "Cece, what's wrong? Where are you going?"

"Remington, I need to find my brother," Cecelia responded.

"Verda is still in the ward, isn't he?" Remington asked.

"No, he is not my brother. I made a mistake. The whistle doesn't belong to Verda. He just found my brother's whistle by accident."

Cecelia tried to restrain her emotions.
