Married by Accident, Taming the Billionaire novel Chapter 456

Chapter 456 He Did Not Admit It

Petunia and Fiona left KLCS and went their separate ways at the entrance. Then, Petunia hurriedly drove to the group's headquarters.

On her way from KLCS to the headquarters, she hadn't had a chance to check her phone and was unaware of what had happened outside.

Hurriedly, Petunia made her way to the president's office, where she met her mother. "Mom, what's going on? Why did you summon me back so urgently?"

When Maggie turned around and saw her daughter, Maggie raised her hand and slapped Petunia.

Smack!

Petunia was bewildered, not understanding why her mother suddenly struck her.

"Mom, why are you hitting me? I just successfully organized the company's new product launch and celebratory event. If you don't want to praise me, that's fine, but why are you hitting me?"

Petunia was eager for recognition of her abilities. Although she had achieved great success now, she still couldn't get her mother's praise, which frustrated Petunia a lot.

"You know why I hit you. I entrusted the company to you, allowing you to manage it. But what did you do? Do you want to bankrupt the entire group, huh?"

Maggie slammed the newspaper down in front of Petunia. "You actually used Universal Entertainment Group's design scheme without permission on the new product launch. They've not only exposed it in the news but also filed a lawsuit for compensation. Our company could lose tens of millions, or even more, due to this mistake. Do you understand?"

Petunia checked the news but didn't take it seriously. "Mom, how can you believe those slanders? Maybe Cecelia is trying to extort money from me after seeing my successful event. How can you only believe her words? Do you trust her so much? Do you not trust me?"

Maggie felt a headache because of her daughter's stubbornness, "They have evidence. What proof do you have to support the claim that the design scheme belongs to our company? You can deny it, but you've overlooked how the outside world perceives the situation. Do you think others will believe your explanation?"

Maggie lectured Petunia, but Petunia lifted her chin, unconvinced.

As the confrontation between mother and daughter reached an impasse, Maggie's assistant came in to report. "Mrs. Taylor, here's an update for you. The Tangerine Group has caught the mastermind behind the leaked design scheme. It's Harry, the former Vice President of the Linsey Group. Harry has confessed to the media and said...."

The assistant glanced at Petunia and stopped speaking.

Maggie turned on the projection TV on the wall, and coincidentally, the news was airing footage of Harry being caught and interviewed after admitting that Petunia had instructed him to do so.

Upon that, Petunia became furious. "Mom! I didn't do that. I didn't instruct him. It was he who came to me at the beginning, offering to provide advice and gain some benefits. I fell for his trap."

"You idiot! If it weren't for your impatience for success, how could this have happened?" Maggie sighed, feeling both disappointed and regretful, "Even if you want to compete with Cecelia, you have to do it by fair means. Do you understand?"

Feeling aggrieved, Petunia retorted, "But Mom, didn't you teach me that the end justifies the means?"

This statement hit Maggie hard, cutting her to the quick. In the past, she indeed believed in doing whatever it took to achieve her goals. But now, she had truly repented and didn't want to be Cecelia's enemy.

"That was in the past. Now, please listen to me and don't compete with Cecelia anymore. You are not her match."

Hearing her mother puff up the enemy and lower their own morale, Petunia looked down on her mother even more. Petunia really didn't want to stop her competition with Cecelia.

"Fine, Mom. I'll do as you say. I won't count this time. Let me manage the company, and I will compete with Cecelia openly. I don't believe I can't defeat her."

Looking at her stubborn daughter, Maggie sighed heavily. Perhaps only through a direct confrontation with Cecelia, where Petunia suffered significant consequences, could Petunia truly learn her lesson.

Maggie didn't want to meddle in the company's affairs right now. After all, the deadline for the death contract was approaching, and it felt futile to do anything.

"All right. But you have to handle this matter properly before formally taking over the management of the group company."
