Scarlett woke up to find the pack doctor running checks on her, her heart racing with fear as she realized that she had fallen down when her powers had emerged. It was a shock to her, as she was unaware of her powers, but the doctor reassured her that she was not seriously hurt.
"It seems she has an headache," the doctor inspected closely squinting her eyes. Scarlett watched from the bed she was on, the doctor's face was a mask of fear. She wondered how the rest of the pack members would be acting towards her from that instant.
"I have given medications to your maids, they will give it to you," the doctor prodded and began packing her box. Before Scarlett could utter a word, the doctor turned striding in the direction of the door.
The doctor left the room, leaving Scarlett alone with her thoughts. She couldn't stop thinking about Alpha Fletcher, the Alpha of a neighboring pack, whom she had met a few months ago. Scarlett had felt a connection with him and had even contemplated running away to be with him, but the twin alphas, her supposed mates, had confined her to the pack.
She sighed, feeling trapped and powerless. Scarlett had never wanted to be with the twin alphas, but the mating bond had forced her to be their mate. She was always longing to break free from the bond and live a life of her choice. Scarlett had always felt like an outsider in her pack. As the mate of the twin Alphas, she was constantly under scrutiny and pressure to perform her duties perfectly. Her every move was watched and dissected by the other members of the pack, and she was never allowed a moment of peace or privacy.
As she lay on the bed, alone with her thoughts, a maid entered the room. Scarlett knew her well, and she asked about what had happened while she was unconscious.
"Ma'am, alot happened, the beta wrote to the Alpha's and told them everything that happened," the maid said without having direct contact with her.
"What did he tell them?" She asked.
"Umm.." The maid mumbled staring at the ground.
"Tell me," she pushed out the air from her lips with anticipation for the maid's answer.
"You went in the air and was flying while flames whirled around you, it all seemed like..." The maid said and stopped immediately. "Other than that, ma'am Ariadne was checking up on you daily."
The maid hesitated but eventually revealed that Ariadne, the daughter of one of the previous betas to the twin alphas' father, had been secretly observing and detecting her. Ariadne was jealous of Scarlett, and despite Scarlett's lack of feelings for the twin alphas, she deliberately approached Scarlett and gained her trust.
One day, as she sat in her room staring out the window, she heard a knock at the door. She rose to answer it, wondering who could be seeking her out at this hour.
When she opened the door, she was surprised to find Ariadne standing on the other side. Ariadne was a fellow pack member, but she had always harbored a deep jealousy and resentment towards Scarlett. She had made no secret of her desire to mate with the twin Alphas herself, and had even gone so far as to spread rumors about Scarlett in an attempt to tarnish her reputation.
"What do you want?" Scarlett asked, eyeing Ariadne warily.
