Mr. Warlord novel Chapter 9

"Don't you want to beat me up? Don't be a coward! Stand up and fight with me!" Jeffrey said coldly.

But Adrien didn't dare to speak. He was overwhelmed by Jeffrey's powerful aura.

"Don't mistake me as a pushover! You would have died if I was still in the army! I won't do anything to you just because I don't care about you scum at all!"

After saying that, Jeffrey went away on his electric scooter.

Adrien and Selina stared blankly at Jeffrey's back for a moment before coming back to their senses.

"Adrien, are you okay?" Selina asked as she helped Adrien up. He was sweating profusely.

"I'm ... I'm fine." Adrien's heart was still thumping.

"The look on that trash's face was so scary! How could he have eyes that cold?" Selina also felt scared as she thought of what just happened.

"Was it? I don't think so though. I just slipped and fell just now, otherwise, I would have beat him up!" Adrien wanted to protect his dignity in front of his future wife, so he just made an excuse.

Selina did not tear his story apart. She just said, "I am sure that trash was furious just because he was not given a job and was kicked out. We are educated people, so we shouldn't resort to violence. Let's just wait until the 26th when we can humiliate him at the wedding."

"Okay, let's make sure he will feel very embarrassed at that time. And tell your sister to divorce him!" Adrien said fiercely.

...

Jeffrey heard his mother-in-law, Sophie, chattering with someone when he got home and was about to open the door.

"Eliza, listen to me. Divorce that trash now! You can marry Mr. Thornton immediately after you divorce that trash. You can have your wedding with Mr. Thornton on the 26th. Only in this way will you not lose to Selina."

"I can't believe that good-for-nothing has boasted last night about giving you a wedding much grander than the wedding of Adrien and Selin. Everyone in the city knows about it today. Adrien and Selina have booked the New Century Hotel. How can you win the competition?"

"Only one hotel is more luxurious than the New Century Hotel in Grandsouth City, and that's Dragon Hotel. But how could that idler book tables and hold your wedding there? Even your grandma has never had a meal at the Dragon Hotel, not to mention me!"

"If you agree to marry Mr. Thornton, he can book a whole floor in the New Century Hotel for your wedding. And your wedding will be at least no worse than Selina's, so you won't be embarrassed then. You and Selina can get married on the same day in the same hotel. How great is that!"

"We will be able to hold our heads high if you marry Mr. Thornton. Selina and her parents won't be able to laugh at us then. They look down upon us now just because Selina has found herself a good husband-to-be while you have married a good-for-nothing!"

Jeffrey immediately understood why Sophie said those things. She wanted to persuade Eliza to divorce him and marry Danny Thornton, the son of the Thornton family.

Jeffrey was very disappointed. There were only a few days before the 26th. He would be able to give them a huge surprise and show them his true identity then. Why could they just be patient and wait for another few days?

"Mom, I don't want to divorce Jeffrey. Don't bring that up." Eliza sounded impatient when she spoke.

"I've just told you why you should divorce him. Why are you so stubborn? He has been nothing but a disgrace to us in the past three years. He is just hopeless. Are you really going to waste your youth on that idler?" Sophie said resentfully.

"Even though he only idled about, he has been very considerate to me. He takes care of me when I catch a cold or something, and he does all the housework with no complaints. I can't live without him now. "Eliza said.

Jeffrey couldn't help but smile when he heard Eliza's reply. It turned out that he had taken up a place in her heart. He felt what he did in the past three years was worth it.

"You like that good-for-nothing? You must be out of your mind!" Sophie was furious.

Jeffrey suddenly heard a guy's voice from inside, "Eliza, I have heard about you and that idler. I know you have no feelings for him at all. You married him only because your grandfather has forced you to do it. You know I am the only man that can give you a grand wedding on the 26th. You will divorce him sooner or later, so why not accept my proposal now?"

Jeffrey had figured out that the man who just spoke was Danny, one of Eliza's admirers!

Jeffrey couldn't believe that Sophie had invited Danny into their house!

"I have always been your admirer, and I really love you. I don't mind you are still married. But please marry me after divorcing him!" Danny said again.

Sophie worried that Danny might be bothered by Eliza's history, so she hurriedly explained, "It's true that Eliza has married that idler, but they always sleep in separate rooms. Eliza never let him touch her. She is still a virgin."

"Mom, why on earth do you bring that up?" Eliza was both embarrassed and angry.
