My Darling, My Dearest novel Chapter 408

Although Rachel didn't react when she saw the news that Jack had dated many young models at that time, deep inside her heart she was very angry that she wanted to tear him apart. And never did she expect that the woman would take the initiative to come to her now.

Jack came back with some fried chicken and freshly squeezed juice in his hands. He put them on the table and said, "I didn't expect that this kind of business would do well in this place. They have so many customers."

He pushed the juice in front of her and handed her the disposable gloves. He carefully squeezed the sauce out of the bag and poured it into the small plate. Seeing that Rachel was looking at him motionlessly, he smiled and said, "Why you seemed stunned? Don't you want to eat this? It's more delicious when it's hot."

Rachel just gave him a chilly look and said, "I suddenly lost my appetite."

She then picked up her bag and walked towards the door without waiting for Jack to respond.

Pregnant women normally had mood swings. Perhaps she had waited for too long, that was why she got upset. Jack understood, so he immediately followed her. But when he was about to approach her, she pushed him back.

Glancing at him expressionlessly, she snapped, "I don't need your company. I can go home by myself."

When a taxi stopped in front of her, she opened the door, got in, and told the driver, "Please drive."

Jack just watched the taxi driving away helplessly with creased brows. Rachel was fine when they came here a while ago. Why did she suddenly become cold to him again?

She was even colder now than two days ago.

A sense of frustration rose from his heart.

He wasn't aware that Scarlett was only hiding inside her car not far away, watching them. With a satisfied smile on her lips, she quickly instructed the driver, "Follow that black car in front of us. If you lose him, don't report to work tomorrow anymore."

Julie stood in front of the rice dispenser with a frown. She was in a dilemma. Since Jack and Rachel went out, she didn't know if she should prepare dinner or not. She thought of calling Rachel to ask when she suddenly heard a car stop at the front door.

When she peeped through the window, she saw a taxi parking outside.

'Who could that be?' she thought. She hurriedly opened the door and was surprised to see Rachel getting out of the taxi. She looked around and asked suspiciously, "Miss, did you come back alone?"

"Yes." Rachel's eyes looked exhausted.

"What about Mr. Fu?" Julie remembered her problem earlier. "I'm actually about to call you to ask if I will still cook for dinner."

"You can ask him yourself."

Rachel then went upstairs and sank back into her bed. She pulled the quilt to cover her head and let her thoughts wander.

She was ready to forgive him earlier. She wanted to let go of the past and start a new life with him. But she didn't expect that his old lover, who looked like her, would approach her.

Jack stepped on the accelerator madly and drove at high speed, not minding the congested road. After a while, he parked his car on the roadside. He clenched his fists and thumped the steering wheel heavily.

He didn't know that to do to make Rachel smile anymore.

These days, he thought that he had already done everything that he needed to do and said what he needed to say. But still, Rachel gave him the same cold treatment.

Jack's car parked on the roadside for a while before he decided to take out his phone and dialed Marcus' number. "Come out and drink with me."

However, Marcus refused. "I'm not available. I need to accompany Celia tonight." Jack didn't expect to be rejected like this.

He called Henry, but he also got the same answer. Henry had to accompany Lea and Rita, so he also couldn't go out. Even Michael, who loved drinking out, refused for the first time. He said that he had a blind date later.

Left with no choice, Jack irritably started his car again and drove to the nearest bar.

Scarlett, who had been following him all this time, tapped the driver's back and shouted in a sharp voice, "Stop the car! Don't you see that the car we are following has already stopped? Where is your mind?"

"I'm going to pull over in front," the driver explained, but Scarlett glared at him.

Scarlett entered the bar and found a seat at the counter. From where she sat, she could clearly see Jack sitting on the other side and drinking one glass after another.

Rachel sat at the dining table alone. Although she was very hungry and the dishes prepared by Julie looked mouthwatering, she had no appetite. She played with her chopsticks and eventually put them down. Julie, who was cleaning the kitchen, glanced at the table from time to time. When she noticed that Rachel was no longer there, she walked out and stopped Rachel, who was about to go back upstairs. "Miss, you haven't eaten anything yet. Don't you like the dishes I prepared? Please tell me what do you want to eat, and I'll cook them for you right away."

Rachel stopped on her step and turned back. "No, Julie. I just don't have any appetite right now."

"Then what do you want for a midnight snack later?" Julie asked.

Rachel shook her head and said, "Thanks, but you don't need to prepare a midnight snack."
