My Darling, My Dearest novel Chapter 419

Jack frowned as soon as he saw Scarlett in the ward. "Didn't I tell you not to come here again?"

"I'm here to take care of you." Scarlett didn't take Jack's indifference to heart anymore because Tracy was always there to support her.

So instead of feeling hurt, she sat down and asked him with a smile, "How are you feeling today?"

But Jack just ignored her. He closed his eyes and asked coldly, "Where is my phone?"

"I don't know." Scarlett tried her best not to laugh and said innocently, "I haven't seen your phone since you were sent to the hospital."

The truth was, she took his phone and gave it to Tracy.

On Jack's first night in the hospital, she was there to take care of him. When she was about to bend over to the bedside to have a rest, she heard a phone ringing, but it wasn't her phone.

She followed the sound to find the phone. Finally, she found it in the pocket of Jack's bloodstained trousers.

As soon as Scarlett saw Rachel's name on the screen, she was so angry that she clenched her teeth. At first, she wanted to throw the phone away, but she controlled herself and managed to hide it.

An idea flashed through her mind.

The next day when Tracy came to the hospital, Scarlett waited for Jack to fall asleep before she took his phone out and handed it to Tracy. She whispered, "Auntie, someone called Jack yesterday. Since this is his private phone, I didn't answer it."

"Who called him?"

"Rachel."

When she mentioned Rachel's name, she clearly noticed that Tracy's expression changed. By this time, she knew all along that her plan was a success.

Tracy took the phone and looked at it for a while. She then said expressionlessly, "I'll keep this. If Jack looks for it in the future, tell him you don't know."

Now that Jack was looking for his phone, Scarlett did what Tracy told her to do. She deliberately lowered her head and took out her phone from her bag. She handed it to Jack and said thoughtfully, "If you want to make a call, use my phone."

Jack didn't respond. Deep inside him, he felt so depressed. He was sure that Rachel had already known that he had a car accident, but why didn't she come to the hospital to see him? Did she really feel more comfortable without him by her side?

His face didn't show any expressions, but complex emotions overwhelmed his heart.

A complacent smile appeared on Scarlett's face. From what she could see, it seemed that she now knew what to expect in her future.

After washing herself up, Rachel put on her pajamas and lay in the bed. In the past nights, she had developed a habit of reading fairy tale books before sleeping.

While reading, she would put her hand on her belly, where she could feel the random movements of her baby. Sometimes, she would feel her kicking naughtily, full of energy.

It was giving her an inexplicable feeling of happiness.

But she still couldn't help feeling surprised every time she felt her baby moved.

That night, she had just finished reading and was about to lie down when her phone rang. It was Lea. "Rachel, are you asleep?"

"Not yet."

Lea was silent for a few seconds before she spoke again. She said in a low voice, "Jack called Henry just now. He was asking about you. Rachel couldn't help but sneer. Finally, Jack remembered to call and ask about her situation.

Perhaps he was already feeling satisfied with Scarlett by his side, so he would only remember to care for her occasionally.

Well, she didn't need his concern at all.

It took a while before Rachel responded, "Henry didn't tell him anything, did he?"

"No, he didn't. But Rachel, why are you hiding from him?"

With a bitter smile on her lips, Rachel replied, "I'm not hiding from him. I just don't want to have anything to do with him anymore."

After she hung up, the sleepiness that Rachel had felt earlier had already dissipated.

Now, she was lying in bed but her mind was filled with different thoughts. Since they could already see a separate future ahead of them, why did they have to get involved with each other now?

Besides, Jack had Scarlett by his side. He didn't need her anymore.

Scarlett was still as unyielding as before and would not give up Jack for anything. Moreover, Tracy was very satisfied with her. When Rachel saw Tracy and Scarlett at the parking lot of the hospital that day, they were walking hand in hand, talking, and laughing. They looked like mother and daughter. Although Rachel grew up in the Fu family, she had always been polite to Tracy but never been intimate.
