My Darling, My Dearest novel Chapter 465

Jack found himself in a terrible situation. He had eagerly brought Rachel's favorite food and was about to sit with her. But he noticed the round table was occupied by four ladies. Looking around, he found an empty seat and sat down. He waited for them to finish their conversation before going there. From time to time, he would glance at her.

"Hey, Rachel, I see you are pregnant. Didn't your husband come with you today?" Sophie looked at her belly, getting ready to gossip about it with others.

Rachel smiled faintly and said, "Yes, he's here."

At the mention of Jack, it suddenly occurred to her that it had been a long time since he went to fetch food.

She looked around and found that he was surrounded by a group of people.

This was not a surprise because wherever he went, he was always the center of attention.

"Where is he? Why don't you ask him over so that we can say hello?" Sophie asked.

Rachel shook her head as she had no desire to introduce him to Sophie. Suddenly, her phone on the table vibrated. Picking it up, she realized Jack had sent her a message. "Do you want to go home?"

His message brought her relief. "Yes, sure," she replied back.

Then she slowly stood up, pulled her coat and smiled. "I have to go back. You guys enjoy your time."

Sophie hurriedly said, "Hey, it has just been a while since you came. Why are you in a hurry? Stay a little longer. Anna said she would join us soon."

Pretending that she didn't hear Sophie's words, Rachel quickened her pace and left. Not long after, Jack came out of the crowd, held her hand tightly and said in a deep voice, "Let's go."

"What happened?" Seeing the impatience and tiredness in his eyes, Rachel was worried. "What were you talking about over there?" she asked.

Jack opened the car door, put his hand over her head and fastened the seat belt for her. "I'll tell you later," he said once he was inside.

The soft music slowly began, leaving no room for conversation. Seeing that he didn't want to tell her about it, Rachel's curiosity piqued. "What happened just now? Will you please tell me?"

Normally, Rachel wasn't the kind of woman who liked to meddle in other people's business. But today, Jack had come to the wedding with her. If something unpleasant happened, it was her fault. Jack tapped the steering wheel with his slender fingers and said in a low voice, "Just business matters."

"Business?" Frowning, Rachel turned off the music, getting ready to get it out of him.

She said, "None of them had any business contact with you, did they?"

If she wasn't wrong, the people he spoke to were strangers to him.

Jack chuckled and said, "Yes, but they took the initiative to talk business with me. They wanted me to give them a chance. They said our wives were junior high school classmates."

"Oh, they are using my name to get close to you. I feel so important!" Rachel exclaimed and chuckled. Thinking about this matter seriously, she frowned and said, "Why do I think they have been waiting for this opportunity since a very long time? As soon as they saw you, they came to talk to you, didn't they?"

Jack turned to look at her and smiled. "Yes, you are smart. After you and Lea met your classmate in the mall, she must have found out your background."

Hearing this, the corners of Rachel's mouth twitched. "It seems that she didn't come to the hospital to see a doctor. I felt strange because she left after she talked to me. I knew it then and there something was amiss." Listening to Jack's laughter, she asked, "Then how did you reply?"

"I gave Austin's business card to your classmate's husband and asked him to send a cooperation plan to that e-mail. If he is capable, then I don't mind giving him a chance." Seeing her face darken, Jack reached out to rub her head and added, "Don't worry. I don't consider this an annoyance. I asked you if you wanted to go home because you seemed a bit tired. It had nothing to do with me."

Rachel felt exposed because Jack had succeeded in reading her mind.

She removed his hand from her head and put it back on the steering wheel. "Please don't act like this while driving. Consider safety and drive carefully."

"Yes, ma'am!" Jack saluted before he brought his focus bar to driving.

Rachel ignored him. But the rest of the journey went quite smoothly. The doubts she had was cleared now. Putting her hand on the central control screen, she searched to find some music to enjoy. When she was about to ask which folder his music was present in, her eyes fell on two folders which had catchy names.

One had the word wife written on it and the other one was marked as baby.

Looking up at him, she found that Jack was focusing on driving. He was oblivious to the treasure she had found.
