My Darling, My Dearest novel Chapter 474

"But..." Rachel still wanted to say something. Unfortunately, confusion still plagued her

thoughts. Several questions rushed to her mind, but she had no idea what to ask first. Slowly, she closed her mouth and swallowed her words.

On the other hand, Jack revealed a calm expression. He appeared to have no regard for being taken to the police station for

investigation.

He gently patted on Rachel's hand but looked straight at Eric beside him. In a deep voice, he said, "I'll go to the police station first. Please take care of your cousin while I'm away. Don't fret. I'll return soon enough."

The latter half of Jack's words were obviously meant for Rachel.

With a nod, Eric took the umbrella from Jack and stood beside Rachel. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder as they both stared grimly at the police car that took Jack away.

As she retracted her gaze, a melancholic expression painted Rachel's face. She grasped Eric's hand tightly and asked uneasily, "Is everything going to be alright? Has there been any problem with this kind of investigation?" Before Eric could answer her questions, Rachel had already called three of Jack's friends. A sigh of relief escaped her breath when she heard that they were going to Ninwell City to help. Finally, her stiff limbs slowly began to relax. She hurriedly walked to the parking lot and said, "Eric, let's go back right away!"

The matter with Rachel's aunt had just come to an end. Unbelievably, Jack was involved in such an issue again. While she sat quietly in the car, she gently closed her eyes, already exhausted about dealing with such troublesome events.

When Rachel finally arrived, Jack's friends were waiting for her. Even Michael, who was always carefree, frowned and asked in a grim tone, "What the hell happened? Why is Jack involved?"

With a troubled expression, Eric pressed Rachel's shoulders and made her sit on the sofa. When he noticed the exhaustion and fear in her eyes, he answered for her, "We don't know. My mother's funeral just ended. Right after we came out of the cemetery, the police arrived and approached Jack."

Henry furrowed his eyebrows. In a serious tone, he said, "I've asked the police about the investigation. There should be some news soon."

With a faint smile, Marcus chuckled, "Guys, calm down. Jack's smart enough to stay away from crime. Rachel, you don't look fine. Why don't you go upstairs and have a rest? If anything happens, we'll notify you." "Yeah, I think so too." Marcus' remark made Eric notice how pale Rachel was. Her lack of color made her look much worse.

However, Rachel shook her head with a stern expression. "No, thanks. I'm fine! Just let me sit here and wait for the news. If you make me go upstairs, I'll just be more anxious."

"Well, that's alright too. However, if you ever feel uncomfortable, tell us, okay?" Henry exhorted with a worried expression.

After all, among the people present, only Henry had the experience of being a father.

At that moment, Henry looked at Rachel's anxious expression with sincere regret. He realized that he should have called Lea to accompany Rachel. In such a trying time, Rachel would undoubtedly benefit from the support of a friend. She needed to talk with someone about the things weighing on her mind.

Fifteen minutes had passed. Typically, it would be a short amount of time. However, with the intense situation, it felt like a full day for them.

Within that period, Rachel had asked the same question more than three times. "Is there any news?"

Unfortunately, Henry only shook his head in disappointment.

With furrowed eyebrows, Rachel added, "Are you sure? Maybe something is wrong with your phone."

Henry lowered his head and thoroughly checked his phone. After confirming that there was no problem, he answered gravely, "I'm sorry, Rachel. There's still no update. Just be patient." However, he also suspected that there was something wrong with his phone.

Finally, the phone rang, and everyone present held their breath. Quietly, they watched Henry answer the call. When she noticed that his frown grew worse, Rachel's heart sank.

The moment Henry hung up the phone, Rachel frantically asked, "Well, what happened? Is Jack in trouble? What did the police say?"

"Two days ago, a drug deal happened on Jack's yacht. In the middle of the transaction, the police arrived and caught the criminals. Unfortunately, the police suspect that Jack lent the site to those lowlifes," Henry said slowly with an expression of disbelief. When she heard the update, Rachel gasped as her heart felt like it was being strangled.

Then, in a low voice, Henry continued, "Due to the lack of evidence, the police can't prove Jack's innocence. Furthermore, a captured drug dealer also pointed Jack as the one who asked them to make a deal in the yacht. According to the statement, Jack told them before that the port was remote and rarely visited by people."

"Then, what will happen to Jack?" "If there's still no evidence to prove Jack's innocence, he will be..."

Henry shook his head, unable to continue his sentence.

After a moment of silence, Michael revealed a troubled expression and said, "Well, if we can't provide some evidence, Jack will be convicted."

'Oh, no! He will be put behind bars?'

Rachel thought to herself as her hands trembled in fear. Slowly, her limbs stiffened as the sensation spread across her body. In the end, she felt like a statue without any strength to move.
