Chapter 39 Hold On, It'll Hurt A Little
"How dare you threaten me?"
Natalie shook her head as she listened to Nora's furious voice. She was surprised that Nora could still easily lose her composure despite her age.
However, Natalie was in a good mood today. So, she was willing to listen to Nora's gibberish.
"Isn't it kind of me to remind you?"
"You..." Nora really wanted to rush to tear Natalie's mouth so she could shut up.
"Enough. Stop talking nonsense," Natalie turned expressionless, and her voice was cold, "I'll sue you if you don't pay me back within seven days. You can wait for the court summons."
Nora's sharp voice almost hurt Natalie's eardrums, "You hit my daughter, and you still want to get money? It's impossible!"
"I didn't hit your daughter," Natalie said, "I just treated her like how she treated me. I splashed her with soup, that's all."
These people were just bullies who preyed on the weak.
It was obviously Kendrick who had ordered someone to beat her, but they didn't even dare to mention his name.
They only bullied her.
Nora turned silent.
After a while, Nora spoke again. But this time, her tone softened, "We're family. There's no need to make things tough. How about this, let's talk about these when we meet."
Needless to say, Nora was definitely thinking of bad ideas.
Natalie mocked, "You just turned fifty but your memory has faded? Who's your family? I sent a declaration to renunciate my inheritance rights long ago. Remember to urge Reuben to sign it."
"You..." Nora gasped and said, "You don't want your stuff anymore, do you?"
Stuff?
Natalie couldn't understand what Nora meant.
As time passed by, the original owner's memories were fading until the point of disappearing.
"The stuff in your box. I've kindly kept them for you in the attic. If you don't want them, I'll throw them away immediately."
Natalie frowned. She was trying to recall the original owner's memories desperately.
Some vague memories emerged.
They were items important to the original owner from childhood to adulthood. They were locked in a box and the original owner tried to get them back before.
However, Nora refused.
Without a reason.
Nora just wanted to embarrass and disgust Natalie. She threw the box directly into the attic and left it with ashes.
Now, the original owner was gone.
So these things...
Were the original owner's relic!
Natalie sighed in her heart.
Nora was pleased as she noticed Natalie wasn't speaking, "If you want to get your things back, you need to agree to my request."
Natalie was silent.
Nora started to turn unconfident.
She realized Natalie had changed too much recently.
Nora couldn't figure out her next move.
What if Natalie was stubborn and refused to agree?
Thinking of this, Nora immediately added, "Don't worry, I won't do anything to you. When the time comes, I'll bring the documents signed by your father and your things. We'll meet and have a good talk."
Nora showed her trump card.
Natalie pursed her lips, "Send me the time and venue."
After hanging up the phone, Natalie closed her eyes and tried to recall.
Unfortunately, she couldn't remember what was in the box.
...
Nora put away her phone.
Sophia asked impatiently on the side, "She agreed?"
Nora nodded.
"Mom, I really can't let this go," Sophia said hatefully, "Do you see how my face has turned into?"
Nora patted Sophia's back heart-wrenchingly. She gritted her teeth and said, "My good daughter, I'll definitely take revenge for you."
Sophia was raised and trained as a socialite since she was a child. Her face was her only advantage compared to her ordinary brain.
However, her face now was swollen badly like a pig's head.
Sophia didn't dare to go home but told Nora about what happened secretly.
