The call hadn't ended yet, but she could hear the voices of security personnel passing by. It seemed Skylar wouldn't get to see Joe today.
"Is there anything else?" Joe suddenly asked.
Skylar's eyes turned red as she asked, "If I said I have evidence proving you're Joe Martin, would you meet me now?"
The call was abruptly disconnected as soon as the words left her mouth.
Skylar stood frozen in place, her body stiff. A sense of disappointment and confusion washed over her.
After a moment, she regained her composure and called the airline to book a ticket to Murida tomorrow.
At that moment, in the airport lounge, Rosa glanced at Ned, who had just finished his call. His unusually silent demeanor and tense expression made her feel anxious and uneasy.
She suddenly felt a wave of apprehension wash over her. "Ned? Was it work-related?"
He hadn't answered when she asked who was on the other end of the line. She had a gut feeling that the person calling Ned was Skylar, but she didn't know what they had discussed.
Looking at Ned and recalling all the news articles about him, Rosa felt increasingly uneasy. There was a nagging sensation that this man before her would soon belong to someone else.
Ned lifted his gaze to meet Rosa's. "It's nothing."
She bit her lip, wondering if it truly was nothing.
Reflecting on Ned's brief words during the call, they had been concise and without much detail. He had merely asked if there was anything else, his tone cold, similar to how he spoke with his employees.
But for some reason, Rosa felt that something was off.
