Just then, Joe's phone rang out with Paul's voice. He said, "Mr. Martin."
"Take Dr. Grey to see Jenny. She's got a fever," Joe instructed.
"Alright, Mr. Martin."
After hanging up, Joe continued tidying up.
Skylar couldn't get a read on Joe's intentions. He seemed to be keeping his distance from Jenny. Was he worried that she minded?
…
After Jenny ended the call, she excitedly anticipated Joe's arrival.
"At the end of the day, Joe still cares about me. He hurried over right after my phone call. He definitely wants me to be safe."
Jenny hadn't thought she would have a fever.
It was probably because she'd gone to Rowan's house last night. Seeing Minerva had hurt her. Moreover, Joe and Gloria's ignorance of her in the hospital had dealt her a huge blow. She couldn't stand it, which was why she'd fallen sick.
Her phone call was merely a test. She'd prepared herself for the possibility that Joe wouldn't show up. Jenny wasn't expecting Joe to hurry over immediately.
She did have a high fever and was feeling quite weak. However, she still stumbled into the washroom to check how she looked in the mirror.
The woman in the mirror was extremely pale. She looked visibly frail and was the very picture of a sick person. Yet, her eyes glinted with anticipation.
As long as Joe hadn't decided to distance himself from her, she had the whole world in her hands.
As to Rowan…
That was a problem for the future.
At the thought of him, she took a selfie with the thermometer and posted it on Instagram.
