Skylar was surprised when she saw that it was a gorgeous woman she didn't know. She'd thought that the beauty would avert her eyes when Skylar met her gaze. Yet, she continued staring at Skylar as though she was looking at a woman out to get her man.
Then, she walked over and sat beside Aiken.
Skylar raised her eyebrow. She knew Aiken. Was she his girlfriend?
"Aiken, I've finally got to see you. You keep telling me you're busy when I call. So this is what you were up to. Going on dates with other women?" She hooked an arm around Aiken's. She questioned him pitifully. Skylar could tell that she adored him and missed him greatly.
Aiken stiffened. Then, he peeled her arm off and shot a glare at her.
Skylar could only pick her glass up and sip at her water to hide her awkwardness. She would only add to the misunderstanding if she said anything else.
"I haven't seen you in a month. I miss you so much." Her smile froze on her face. Her arm was bruised from where he'd pulled her off him. Her heart clenched at Aiken's glare. Terror coursed through her. She'd been too impulsive.
"Do you remember what I told you the last time we met?" Aiken asked coldly.
It sounded like a casual question, but her heart sank upon hearing it.
She recalled how she'd been told in no uncertain terms that they were nothing more than sexual partners when she'd been sleeping with Aiken. Apart from that, she was to fuck off after he paid her off. If she harbored delusions for him, she wouldn't be able to bear the consequences.
Someone had told her that she was the woman Aiken had kept with him for the longest. Sometimes, he'd bring her to see his friends. She thought she was different to him.
Was it because…
"Is she your new lover?" She couldn't hide the jealousy in her tone.
Skylar immediately explained, "We're just friends. We're only eating together because we've just been visiting a friend of ours. We're not together in that way, not to mention the fact that I'm already married."
Aiken pursed her lips while Skylar desperately tried to explain that she had nothing to do with Aiken. His friends would immediately be able to tell that he was pissed.
