Athena and Byron went straight to the airport after leaving Lakin.
At about 10 o'clock that night, Athena and Byron stepped onto the island. That place meant a lot to them.
After a period of construction, the island looked a lot messier than it did the last time they were here.
Liam came with them.
He took Byron and Athena to the small house where Athena stayed last time.
After putting down their things, Athena received a call from Mike.
She signaled to Byron and went out of the room to answer the phone.
"Have you found anything?" Athena asked.
Mike was a little frustrated.
"What kind of place is this? There are too few surveillance cameras here. I started searching around the parking lot where the car was found. There's a vague surveillance video of Mr. Crawford running out while making a phone call..."
"Wait." Athena interrupted, "Running out?"
"Yeah. He was running. I was very confused when I saw it. Doesn't he usually need crutches? But he was very nimble that day!" Mike said in surprise, "But the scope of that surveillance camera is small. So he disappeared in a few seconds. Then I looked around again. The weird thing is, I found seven cameras, but they were all either broken or powered off!"
Athena frowned slightly.
Mike continued, "Mr. Crawford must have been in the suburbs that day. There were few surveillance cameras. I found two more surveillance footage this afternoon with Mr. Crawford in it, but didn't see the boy."
"Keep looking!" Athena said gravely.
She didn't believe that they couldn't find that child in a small town.
If Mike couldn't find him, Athena would suspect that someone had deliberately made up the boy's identity and asked him to approach Byron.
She couldn't figure out what they wanted from Byron.
But she would know as long as they found the boy and get the person behind all this.
She hung up the phone, turned around and went back to the house.
Byron took out her things and placed them in the room.
Athena was amazed by how her stuff was arranged.
Byron had never been this thoughtful and would never do something like that in the past.
As she thought about this, she looked around and saw Byron standing on the terrace.
The sea breeze was mild.
Athena opened the door and went out.
Byron heard the footsteps and turned around.
"You're done with your phone call?"
"Yeah." Athena walked up to him, took his arm, and leaned her head against Byron. "You are not happy?"
