My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 2311

Although I wanted to make Jordan suffer, my expression was that of a jealous girlfriend. I put on an upset face to indicate that I was sad over him being with other women.

The room suddenly fell into a suffocating silence. The atmosphere was awkward as the tension thickened.

After an unknown period of time, Jordan cleared his throat and said, "Ahem, I'm not as open as you think."

I raised the corner of my mouth silently, a light of victory flashed in my eyes.

"Oh, Jordan. I haven't even asked you anything, yet you are so eager to explain yourself to me? What are you afraid of? That I might overthink and stop flirting with you?" I snickered to myself.

"Don't worry. Before you fall head over heels with me and your heart is mine, that will never happen."

After a while, I raised my head and looked at him in surprise. "Are you just saying that so I won't be sad?"

Jordan frowned. "What?"

Before he could react, I lowered my head and whispered to myself, "It doesn't matter. It is good enough. Everyone has a past. I have no right to ask you of anything."

My words implied that the pure, innocent Jordan was a playboy who just did not want to admit it.

Not only that, I made myself seem kind and understanding. Anyone hearing it would think I was a pitiful little girl that pined after his love. The ball was in Jordan's court, it was up to him to decide if he wanted to accept me or not.

But the truth was that if he ever dared to reach out, I would bare my fangs and bite down hard.

The most cunning hunters often appeared as prey, didn't they?

"I..." Jordan opened his mouth, as if wanting to say more. But then he suddenly changed his tone and said coldly, "I'm glad you know that I'm not the kind of man that can be thrown around easily."

"Oh, is that how you want to be, Mr. Marshall?"

"Well, it's too late," I said to myself.

Hearing that he intended to draw a clear line between us, I wore my original indifferent expression. I suddenly got up and walked out, "Fine. I guess I was overthinking."
