My Quick-witted Baby novel Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Arabella was sent to the countryside at the age of nine. She knew that she shouldn't hold any expectations for her so-called father, Seth. Sure enough, there were no exceptions in this phone call.

Seth was still the Seth that Arabella knew. A person who valued vanity and pride and was obsessed with medicine. He also hoped to further develop the Snyder Medical Group.

Now, Stephany was the daughter that Seth was most proud of. As a daughter who had just returned from the countryside, Arabella could be used to send off for marriage and be taken advantage of.

"Father, I know. I'll go tomorrow."

Arabella's obedience had made Seth's tone turn a little softer, "Bella, the purpose of you marrying there was to counteract their bad luck. Your terminally ill future husband will die soon. After resolving Mr. Weber's matter, I'll find you a better family to marry."

"Then, I'll thank you in advance." Arabella hung up the phone.

After turning off the phone, Arabella closed her eyes in Kenneth's arms. Actually, Arabella was feeling sad. She believed that she was no different than an orphan.

She wanted to live like an average child that was loved by her parents. She wanted to live a simple and peaceful life. However, all of these were simply a luxury for her.

She had no home.

She was a child that wasn't loved by her parents.

Perhaps she was feeling cold, Arabella curled up in Kenneth's arms. Kenneth's arms were firm and warm. It was a body that could protect any woman.

Arabella rested her head on Kenneth's chest. "Thump, thump, thump," his powerful heartbeat made Arabella feel secure.

Arabella thought that she wouldn't be able to fall asleep, but in the arms of this man, she slept well until dawn.

...

Kenneth slowly opened his eyes. It was the next day morning. The brilliant morning sunlight was piercing through the layers of curtains, sprinkling lights in the air.

Kenneth's eyes were misty because of wakening. There was a moment of dazedness.

Many years had passed since Kenneth could sleep properly until the next day and open his eyes under this beautiful morning sunlight.

Kenneth closed his eyes and wanted to hug the girl in his arms.

He knew that Arabella had slept in his arms all night as there were residuals of her body temperature and fragrance in his arms.

However, he hugged nothing. His arms were empty, and Arabella was gone.

Suddenly, Kenneth was completely awake. He lifted the silk blanket and got up.

At this time, the study door was pushed open. The butler, Bryson, walked in with a happy face, "Mr. Lucero, are you awake? When Mrs. Lucero left, she asked me to not disturb you and let you sleep for a while longer. It's been years since you can sleep until waking up naturally. It's something that even Mr. Norman can't do. To think that Mrs. Lucero was able to do this, what kind of magical power does she have?"

Bryson felt that it was incredible. He knew Kenneth's physical condition best. He was worried after Arabella entered the study room last night. However, he was surprised that Kenneth could sleep with Arabella for the whole night.

Kenneth looked outside the door, "Where is Mrs. Lucero?"

"Mrs. Lucero said she needed to go out to deal with something. She would be back at night."

"Did she say where she's going?"

"No."

"Ok."

Kenneth returned to his bedroom and went into the toilet to take a shower. When he took off his white shirt, he saw a deep tooth mark on his shoulder through the mirror.
