Starla couldn't help but wonder how devastating it would be when Brinley finally realized the boy wasn't even hers.
But when it came to Brinley...
Starla didn't have a shred of pity.
Given how ruthless Brinley had been in the past, she deserved every ounce of whatever blow was coming her way!
"Whatever revenge you want to take, I'll accept it. However you want me to die, I'll do it," Brinley said, her voice dripping with despair.
She knew there was no escaping Starla's grasp this time.
When she had mocked Darleen the other day, hadn't she also been holding out hope?
Deep down, she had known Darleen wouldn't be able to bring Starla down. But she waited anyway! She had prayed that Darleen could use Mrs. Shipley to destroy Starla, dragging her off her pedestal.
Even sensing it would fail, she had silently waited for a miracle.
Instead, she got exactly what was expected. Darleen had failed to leverage Kael Shipley's wife, and that failure had made reality painfully clear to Brinley.
None of them were ever going to see Starla's downfall.
The curses they harbored in their hearts would likely never come true in this lifetime.
"I'll die however you want, just please... save my baby," Brinley pleaded, pressing herself against the floor.
This would be the one and only thing she did for that child before she met her end.
Being born to her was the greatest tragedy of that baby's life. Since she couldn't escape her own fate, this was the least she could do.
"You're quite the devoted mother right now," Starla remarked coolly. "It's just a shame... why didn't you protect your daughter?"
Brinley froze.
Her daughter?
