"Definitely?"
Herbert's tone grew perceptibly colder at Caden's hesitant phrasing. Men in his position despised ambiguity.
"He's been in frequent contact with Amos Kunan lately," Caden explained.
And Amos Kunan's turf was the Cyrus Sea.
"Amos?" Herbert repeated.
"Right."
So, in Caden's mind, Fairfax had undoubtedly gone to seek refuge with Amos. If he wasn't there, Caden had no clue where else the man could be hiding.
"Understood," Herbert said flatly.
As he ended the call, a dark, lethal glint flashed through his eyes—the kind of pure ruthlessness that looked ready to tear Fairfax apart piece by piece.
Before takeoff, Herbert immediately dispatched a team to the Cyrus Sea to hunt him down, and Starla quickly forwarded the intel to Yardley.
As the plane broke through the clouds, Starla leaned back. "I hope by the time we land, there's news that they've dragged him back."
That bastard. The fact that he'd managed to slip away still sat bitterly in her chest.
"If he's in the Cyrus Sea, they'll find him," Herbert assured her.
