Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 491

Leila’s expression was a little unnatural. Inwardly, she was filled with contempt. An old bachelor, and so full of problems.

Though she felt a pang of guilt, she steeled herself and answered, “My job requires me to interact with a lot of men. It’s impossible not to speak with them. But you can rest assured, I’m not a casual person. All my interactions with them are strictly professional.”

“Professional interactions… of course, that’s no problem.” A slight smile touched Nolan’s lips as he peeled an orange.

After removing the peel, he meticulously picked off all the white pith.

Leila assumed he was peeling it for her and was just about to reach out for it.

But then…

She watched as Nolan popped the entire orange into his own mouth.

Embarrassed, Leila grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl to cover up her aborted movement.

This damn man had no manners at all.

Didn’t he know he was supposed to be winning her over right now?

This was a blind date, for crying out loud. Wasn’t he afraid she’d reject him?

After finishing the orange, Nolan clapped his hands together. “A bit sour. Oh, right, that reminds me of something. There was a video going viral a while back, a wife and her son catching the husband's mistress in the street and beating her up.”

Nolan bit into another slice of orange and chewed thoughtfully. “The mistress ended up with a broken bone. I know society is very open these days, and a lot of married couples do their own thing. But I’m a very loyal person when it comes to relationships. You can be sure there will never be any mistresses or side pieces with me.”

With that, he looked at Leila, whose expression had soured, and continued, “And I can tell that Miss Wallace is just like me, a person who is dedicated in a relationship. Right?”

Leila’s mouth twitched unnaturally. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Well, of course!”

“That’s good. I have a weak heart, you see. I can’t handle shocks. Also, I like to check in on my partner. Especially with things like social media passwords. I think a couple should be completely transparent with each other.”

As if not noticing Leila’s darkening face, Nolan went on, “Does Miss Wallace have any of those guys in her social circle who like to hit on her? You know, the kind who send late-night texts saying, ‘I miss you, can you come keep me company?’—things that could cause a misunderstanding. I’m a curious person, and I’d hate to click on something one day and see something I shouldn’t.”
