Already unsteady on her feet, she stumbled as she ran and crashed right into West's chest. The woman's warm breath fanned across his neck, a mix of her faint perfume and alcohol.
Wendy buried her head in his chest and shifted slightly. West caught the subtle fragrance of her hair, and his heart gave an involuntary leap. He suppressed the strange feeling, holding onto Janina with one hand while grabbing the unstable Wendy with the other.
Janina and Wendy were now completely unruly, shouting, "Drink! To the last drop! Come on, fill 'em up!"
West had no choice but to guide them back to their chairs. He pulled out his phone and called Natalie Holt. He couldn't handle this alone.
"Natalie, Janina and Wendy are drunk. Can you come to The Tasting Room?"
By the time he hung up, Janina and Wendy were holding hands and dancing wildly again. Wendy had climbed onto a chair and was swaying ecstatically, her arms raised high.
West's head throbbed. He rushed over and scooped Wendy off the chair—it was too dangerous if she fell. Suddenly, Wendy wrapped her arms around his neck, her warm lips brushing against his earlobe. "You smell nice… hehe… Janina, let's drink…"
West's body went rigid.
Thankfully, Natalie arrived at that moment. She ran up the stairs, breathless, and walked into the private room to see two women dragging a helpless-looking West around, singing and dancing.
"West, I'll take Wendy. You get Janina to the car first," Natalie said, reaching for Wendy. But Wendy just turned to her and started acting like a child. "Carry me…"
Wendy threw her arms out for a hug, and her entire weight suddenly hung on Natalie. The unexpected burden sent Natalie stumbling back a few steps until her back hit the wall. "Wendy, I can't carry you! I'll help you walk."
