After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 611

“Isabella, you’re really cold to me.”

“We’re getting divorced, Ethan. Being cold is easier for both of us.”

Ethan couldn’t find anything to say.

“If there’s nothing else, you should go home and get some sleep. I need to rest too,” Isabella said, her tone making it clear he wasn’t welcome to linger.

“You’re staying in this big place all by yourself. Aren’t you scared? How about I stay and keep you company? Seriously, you don’t have to worry. I won’t cross any lines.”

“I don’t need you here. I’m not scared.”

The security here was top-notch, and Isabella trusted it completely. Everyone in this neighborhood was either loaded or important. If they weren’t worried, why should she be? Her neighbors had more money and higher stakes than she did. When she came home earlier, she’d even seen the lights on next door at Edward’s place.

She felt perfectly safe.

“Isabella…”

“Ethan, are you trying to make me throw you out? You already said this house is mine. We’re in the middle of transferring the deed.”

Ethan’s chest tightened with a sour ache.

He picked up his half-finished glass of water and downed it all at once. After setting the glass on the table, he just stood there, watching her for a few long minutes. She showed no sign of wanting him to stay. Finally, he gave up and stood, his disappointment obvious.

“Alright, I’ll go. Get some rest, Isabella.”

He put the villa’s key on the table in front of her. “Here. It’s yours.”

“Susan, I don’t know if there’s any hope left. I’m terrified she’ll end up with someone else. And Harold… he actually has his eye on her. That’s my wife. He wants my wife.”

“I thought he was my friend. No wonder he always said Isabella was innocent.”

“I think he’s been into her for a long time but never said anything because she was married to me.”

Susan sounded genuinely surprised. “Harold likes Isabella?”

“More than likes. He’s in love with her. I can tell by the way he looks at her. He hides it well, but I see it. I tried telling Isabella he had feelings for her, but she didn’t believe me.”

All Susan could say was, “Ethan, you and Isabella have known each other for twenty years. You were married for six months. If you really want to fix things, I think you still have a good shot.”

But in her heart, she wondered, is this karma? Ethan went after someone else’s wife, and now someone wants his.
