Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1703

Yvonne’s eyes filled with grievance. “How am I supposed to know? I don’t know why he changed like this. And now, he doesn’t even want me contacting him.”

She tightened her hold on the plush doll in her arms and punched it once.

“So he got married, big deal. It’s not like everything between us just magically disappeared.”

Michelle sighed and brushed the back of her daughter’s head. “Life is long. We won’t know who will get the last laugh.”

Yvonne paused, confused by the meaning behind those words, staring at her mother in a daze.

Seeing her expression, Michelle smiled and gently rubbed the back of her head again.

“Don’t overthink it. I’m still here behind you. Whatever happens, I’ll cover you.”

Hearing that, Yvonne almost couldn’t believe it.

She even wondered if she’d misheard.

She hadn’t exactly treated her mother well before, so why was Michelle still being so good to her?

“Mom… hearing you say that makes me feel guilty.”

Yvonne lowered her head slightly, unable to define the emotion gathering in her chest.

Seeing her daughter like this, Michelle understood that Yvonne had always been a stubborn one.

She knew exactly what was going on in that girl’s heart.

“Stop thinking so much. You’re my daughter. If I’m not good to you, then who else would I be good to?”

She gave a light laugh. “Alright, you still have to get up early for the studio tomorrow. Whatever else you want to talk about, we’ll handle it then.”

Before leaving the room, she reminded her several more times.

“No matter what, you can’t say things like that anywhere from now on. If the wrong person hears it, the Song family truly won’t have peaceful days ahead.”

“Alright, I understand.”

“But some things still require considering the consequences. We’re adults now. We can’t keep acting on impulse.”

Yvonne nodded earnestly.

This time, she genuinely felt the seriousness of it.

No matter what, she was part of the Song family.

Her every word and action represented them.

If this got out, she didn’t know how Lucas would retaliate against her family.

She couldn’t let her own stubbornness ruin everything.

And the studio situation still wasn’t resolved. People online were criticizing her nonstop.

If anything else went wrong now, she would be in even deeper trouble.
