Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1704

“Don’t worry. I’ll be careful with my words from now on.”

Hearing that, Michelle finally felt at ease.

As she left, she offered Yvonne one last earnest reminder.

“No matter what happens, you’ll always be the apple of your parents’ eye.

“So, whatever comes your way, you don’t have to shoulder it alone. You can always talk to us.”

“Alright, I understand.”

Yvonne’s eyes shimmered with tears.

She turned her head slightly and quietly wiped them away while her mother wasn’t looking.

Now, she fully understood how her mother felt.

How could any parent not hope to see their child grow into someone stronger and better?

Once Michelle left, Yvonne sat alone on the bed, then gradually leaned back against the mattress.

Staring up at the ceiling, her mind was a tangled mess.

Too much had happened recently—so much that she couldn’t keep up.

She’d faced plenty of chaos before, but never like this.

Her entire life felt like a pot boiling over, completely out of control compared to the past.

Before, Lucas would step in and handle everything for her. But now, she had to rely on herself.

Thinking of that stirred a sense of panic.

And all of this began with Aurora’s arrival.

If not for her, Yvonne believed nothing between her and Lucas would have changed.

No matter what problems came up, Lucas would always shield her.

The more she dwelled on it, the more she wished Aurora could simply disappear.

But now, even Joseph refused to work with her.

There were even things she couldn’t bring herself to say.

Thinking of all this left her completely tangled inside.

Right before the call was about to end, she still chose to pick it up.

No matter what, she and Edwin had been close since they were young; all those years of friendship couldn’t simply be cut off.

If it really could end so easily, then that bond had truly been far too fragile.

Had all those years meant nothing?

When she answered the call, Yvonne let out a silent sigh in her heart.

On the other end, Edwin’s lips curved into a faint smile.

He knew she would answer—real feelings wouldn’t vanish just because things had changed.

A person’s eyes could never lie.

And over all these years, he had helped Yvonne with countless things.
