He never expected that the woman he once called a lunatic would now turn around and help him. The world really worked in strange ways.
“Why don’t we exchange contact info?”
Joseph offered first.
For now, it was the only way to keep her tied to this plan.
If she made a promise and he agreed—then how was he supposed to reach her afterward?
That would be ridiculous.
“You’re right.”
Yvonne pulled out her phone, opened her QR code, and held it out to him with an approving look.
“Didn’t expect you to catch on this quickly.”
He didn’t argue. At this point, desperation made him willing to grab any lifeline.
So he didn’t argue with her; he simply went along with whatever she wanted.
“All set. Here’s your phone.”
He handed her phone back.
Compared to their earlier hostility, the atmosphere between them had softened considerably.
“We’ve exchanged contact info. That should ease your mind, right?”
She saw right through him. She knew he didn’t trust her yet, which was why he wanted their connection saved.
The first time they met, Joseph had been arrogant and distant.
Now he was willing to lower his pride all for one woman.
It was really strange. She couldn’t figure out what made Judy so special.
Yvonne wasn’t someone who liked to tiptoe around a question, so she asked directly.
“I remember you used to like Aurora, didn’t you? Why are you suddenly fixated on Judy now?”
As she spoke, she looked him over from head to toe, clearly curious.
