Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1833

But this was the first time in a long while Yvonne had seen Charles smile.

“Dad, do you have good news?”

She couldn’t help asking, a quiet hope flickering in her eyes.

“Of course I do.” Charles straightened a little, clearly pleased to finally be taken seriously.

“What I wanted to tell you is—Mr. Carter Sr. agreed to meet after all.”

“Are you serious?”

Michelle shot to her feet and hurried over to him, shock and surprise written across her face.

“Of course I am.” Charles didn’t hide anything this time.

But a second later, he doused the hope in the room with cold reality.

“Let me make this clear first: he only agreed to a meeting. He didn’t say anything about what he plans to do.”

He let out a long sigh.

“The most important thing now is figuring out how to present everything to him clearly, so he can properly discipline his youngest son.”

The light in Yvonne’s eyes dimmed again.

“Let’s forget it. You said yourself the chances are slim. And honestly, I don’t think anyone would easily agree to something like this.”

To Yvonne, Charles’ words sounded like pure fantasy.

The man merely agreed to meet them, yet her father was already thinking as though everything might be solved.

Wasn’t that setting expectations impossibly high?

Yvonne knew she couldn’t afford to imagine things turning out too perfectly.

She knew exactly what kind of person Philip was—always protective of his own, especially his youngest son, the one he doted on most.
