Natalie said impatiently, “Accidentally? He did it on purpose. If you’re going to apologize, don't make it an empty gesture.”
Darren was about to explode. He had brought them here to be humiliated, not to apologize to them.
But for the sake of the bigger picture, he held his tongue.
“I’m sorry, kids. My son was being mischievous. I will discipline him more strictly in the future.”
Natalie looked at Hanley. “Your father has apologized. Aren’t you going to apologize too?”
Hanley had no desire to apologize to them, but under his father’s threatening glare, he reluctantly said, “I’m sorry. I was being reckless. I’ll be more careful next time.”
Natalie said, “That’s a more sincere attitude. Lucas, Liana, do you forgive him?”
Lucas replied, “I’m sure he’ll remember this lesson.”
“Then let’s go.”
Natalie left with Lucas and Liana. Darren was livid. Today was supposed to be the Cross Group’s big day, a day for him to stand tall in front of Natalie and make her regret leaving him.
Instead, he felt like a dog with its tail between its legs.
Angela commented from the side, “Natalie really knows how to put on an act. Your Cross Group is about to make a huge comeback, and she’s showing zero interest in you.”
“You’re a man, right? Do you have any good qualities? Maybe you’re just bad in bed and have a terrible temper!”
Darren glared at Angela. If she weren’t his business partner, he would have thrown her out long ago.
“Why are you looking at me like that? I’m just telling the truth.”

“Natalie, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have hit him that hard.”
