Darren looked at Angela and suddenly chuckled.
This woman really had an endless supply of energy. Did she really think the receptionist would just give her a contact number?
The receptionist smiled as well. What a naive girl.
“I’m sorry,” she said, “but I don’t know who our president is either.”
Angela said, “You don’t know either? Then you’re telling us to go to Mariston Vale to find him? Aren’t you just messing with us?”
“You have considerable influence in Mariston Vale. Whether you can find our president or not depends on your own abilities. That’s all I can say. You shouldn’t wait here any longer; it’s pointless.”
“No way. I have to keep waiting.”
Angela sat back down in her chair. Now that she had a lead, she felt she had to persist. She would wait until the receptionist told them who the president was.
Just then, Darren said to Angela, “Let’s go.”
Angela protested, “We’ve finally gotten a small lead. Why are we leaving now? All our effort will be for nothing.”
Darren said, “She’s told you everything she can. Staying here any longer is useless.” Then Darren turned to the receptionist and said, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” the receptionist replied. Darren grabbed Angela’s arm and left. Angela still didn’t understand why they were leaving so abruptly.
“She didn’t tell us anything, just that their president is in Mariston Vale. Where are we supposed to find him?”
“Have you ever heard of The Umbra Network?”
“What’s The Umbra Network?”
