Elaine looked at Terence and said, “Terence, if you have the time, could you help us get in touch with him? We’d like to thank him in person.”
Marcus Ward said, “Mom, I already told Terence I wanted to thank the CEO in person, but he said the man is very busy. He’ll pass along our gratitude.”
“That makes sense. With such a large company, he must be very busy.”
Richard said, “Mr. Lockwood, I hear you opened a restaurant. Isn’t that exhausting? And with your leg, being around people all day can’t be good for it. Why don’t you just close the restaurant? The lion’s share of the profits from this project will be more than enough for you to live on for the rest of your lives”
Elaine added, “That’s right. I saw your restaurant has great reviews online, which is wonderful. But I agree with Richard, it can’t be easy for you with your leg. Maybe you should take a rest.”
Terence knew the two of them were showing concern for him as if he were their son-in-law.
He said, “Thank you for your concern, but I don’t find it tiring. I actually think it’s quite interesting.”
Marcus Ward said, “Terence opened a restaurant and made it a success. Even if it’s a small business, what matters is that he’s happy, right?”
“Exactly. Today is a great day. Let’s all have a drink. Kids, you can have juice.”
Lucas clinked his glass with Hanley’s. Hanley felt that this lively atmosphere was wonderful.
He had never experienced such a bustling, warm environment before. Every word spoken was filled with genuine care, with people truly looking out for one another. It was a big, loving family, and he thought the feeling was amazing.
