Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 608

Everyone present went pale. As Quincy collapsed to his knees, clutching his throat, Sean started forward. "Quincy!"

"Anyone comes closer, and they're next." Shane moved toward Charlotte and Loretta, the blood-stained dagger hovering near them. The cold steel blade, glinting menacingly, was almost touching Charlotte's cheek. She instinctively held her breath, her fingers trembling, but she stubbornly refused to close her eyes. Loretta, terrified by the bloody scene, was sobbing, her face white with fear.

Wesley's face was livid. He took a step forward but was forced back by Shane's sharp glare. "Shane! Are you insane? Do you have any idea what you're doing?" His voice was thick with suppressed fury and a hint of panic.

Sean's eyes darted between the dagger dripping with his brother's blood and the two trembling girls, one of them his own precious daughter. He was frantic. "Shane, let's talk this through! Don't hurt innocent people!"

Caleb also tried to de-escalate the situation. "That's right, Shane, we're family! Listen to me, call an ambulance now. If Quincy dies, you'll be a murderer. Do you want to spend the rest of your life in prison?"

"Family?" Shane laughed as if it were the funniest joke she'd ever heard. "From the moment I was forced to be a Rayburn son, when did this family ever give me a chance to live? Fine, I suppose it's time you knew the truth. Hulda was not my mother. To climb the social ladder, she stole me from my real mother and had her killed. And my birth father was a hypocrite who only wanted a son, abandoning the woman who gave birth to me!"

As she spoke, she grew more agitated, and the tip of the dagger pricked Loretta's neck, drawing a bead of blood. Loretta screamed, tears streaming down her face.

The onlookers were too stunned by this revelation to react.

Wesley finally stepped forward. "Shane, calm down! Let them go. Whatever you want… I'll give it to you!"

Shane paused, a flicker of sorrow in her eyes as she looked at him. "Fine. I'll let them go. But you will be my hostage."
