Divorce Failed My Wife's Secret Identities Shock the World novel Chapter 221

Elena's smile carried a faint edge. "A chance to steal the spotlight like that? No way she'd let it pass."

"The seventh Aethelburg Intercollegiate Games are in two months. The vice chancellor handed the music arrangement over to Leah Ford—she wants the athletes' entrance to be a showstopper…"

Elena swallowed the rest of what she'd been about to say.

She nudged Maeve Vance's elbow and murmured, "Heads up. Someone's coming over with an attitude."

Maeve followed Elena's gaze and saw Anya Morales striding toward them, her face set in open hostility.

"Maeve. We need to talk."

That lofty, bossing-you-around tone was so ridiculous Maeve almost laughed.

"We're not friends. We have nothing to talk about."

"And here's a little warning for you—you're going to have a bad day."

"If you don't want to embarrass yourself, get lost. Stop trying to make yourself relevant in front of me."

Anya took it as a curse.

She planted herself in Maeve's path and snapped, "What exactly are you to Mr. Andres?"

Elena: "…"

Was Anya's brain short-circuiting?

Who did she think she was, demanding answers like that? Anyone who didn't know better would've assumed Anya was Andres White's wife and Maeve was some mistress on the side.

Maeve looked at Anya's jealous face, leaned in, and said softly into her ear, "We sleep in the same bed every night. You tell me what that makes us."

In Anya's mind, a scene flashed—Maeve and Andres tangled up in sheets, breathless and intimate.

No. That couldn't be true.

Maeve was just trying to provoke her.

But when Anya caught the teasing curve of Maeve's mouth—and remembered everything that had happened lately to the Morales family and to herself—old grudges and fresh humiliations surged together.
