Regret hit Andres out of nowhere.
He'd known Maeve for ages, and somehow they still didn't have a single photo together.
He pushed the thought aside and asked, "So Sienna fainting, Natalia swooping in to 'save' her… that was all staged?"
Maeve looked at him like the answer was obvious.
"Otherwise, explain this to me—why did Sienna just happen to show up wherever you and I were?"
"She picked a fight with me over a dress on purpose, then used her grudge against Naomi to provoke me."
"That wasn't spontaneous. She came prepared, just to create a perfectly 'reasonable' excuse for Natalia to make an entrance."
"First, she performs her miracle doctor routine. Then she rides the wave with that photoshopped picture."
"Everything she's done has one goal: get your attention."
"You heard those planted spectators too, didn't you? 'Thirteen silver needles,' 'old-school healer family'—all those keywords, loud enough for you to catch."
"And the final objective?" Maeve tipped her head. "Take a guess."
Andres' expression sharpened as he put it together.
"Someone's using how desperate I am to find the Shadow Healer… and they built this whole trap around it?"
Maeve idly turned her phone in her hand. "If my timing's right, Anya Morales will reach out within a day or two."
Andres caught her meaning instantly. "Using her so-called hacker skills, she's finally going to 'help' me find the Shadow Healer?"
Maeve nodded. "Ansel Morales is dead, and the Morales name collapsed overnight."
"Scandals are coming from every direction. Anya needs something she can live off of—something that keeps her relevant."
"And I'm guessing you once promised her that if she found the Shadow Healer, she could name her price."
Andres remembered it clearly. Back then, when his mother's life was on the line, he really had said that.
Maeve held her phone out to him.
"Natalia's profile."
